How much of an impediment would it be that hes not contracted to Cricket Australia? Not saying he couldn't be offered a contract but for sheer practicality, I get the feeling if he was contracted he'd probably be selected, but because hes not they'll probably go with Jacques.

6 or 7 years ago Andy Bichel was left off the contracts list.....by December that year he was getting picked again and then got reinstated as a CA contracted player.

If you are in form and making runs/taking wickets despite the fact you might not have a CA contract the selectors have shown that you will get picked
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
