Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Postby Chook » Fri Jul 21, 2006 3:05 pm

I have heard rumours around that Shane Russell formally of Ironbank and I believe is playing at Reynella will be moving clubs again next year, but not back to the hills. I heard that he may be moving to the Great Southern League next year for a fair bit of coin, can't remember the club. Wouldn't suprise me considering he has been kicking plenty of goals of late.

Has anyone heard a similar rumour cos It was not a great source.

i would imagine the top 3 to be made up of tv, kangy & meadows.
followed by -
echunga - mully is doing a good job. has a lot of respect.
birdwood - been up there for a few years now
kersbrook - look to be big improvers
nairne - could be on the down slide
blackwood - lost too many players, alot of injuries
maccy - not enough depth or good players
gumeracha - not up to it
callington - not up to it

I have heard similar rumours getting around about Shane Russell. If that is true, theres no doubt a bit of coin would be thrown around for the kid. The Great Southern League though? dont know where he is moving, just hear he wasnt happy at Reynella.

Interesting to hear the rumours about Russell, apparently he went back to reynella to play finals football, something that looks like happening this year. Couldnt imagine Ironbank pushing for finals footy in the near future! What club in the great Southern Pig Skin??

Goodness me. Its starting to look like the Southern League results with all the big scores.....

Echunga 13.15 (93) d Kersbrook 9.12 (66)

Best - Echunga. L Lawrence, C Lynn, L Munn, A Rettalick. B Fleming. Kersbrook: D Herman. J Morrison, B Quill, B Pearce, T Palies.
Goals – Echunga – T Solly 4, L Munn, L Lawrence 2, A Rettalick, T Curnow. B Slottegraff, C Lynn. Kersbrook: B Pearce, L Hall 2,
J Morrison, J Levett, J Rider, L Hughes, D Pearce

Blackwood 48.17 (305) d Callington 3.9 (27)

Best-Blackwood: D Delwayer, A Edwards, K Read, T Mickie, C Simmons. Callington: A Watkins, J Browning, N Miller, A Wilson,
J Sipos. Goals – Blackwood - T Mickie 11, A Edwards 8, D Delawyer, D Collins 5, N Lewis, K Read, M Tresize 3, S Cheek,
S Robb 2, A Read, S Aldock, C Simmons, N Worr, C Jamar, D Wright 1. Callington: N Miller, L Rankine, A Wilson.

Kangarilla 38.26 (254) d Nairne/Bremer 6.8 (44)

Best - Kangarilla: M Daniele, T Vates, L North, B Wakefield, T Thorpe. Nairne Bremer: L Percy, M Jolly, T Preusker, C Jinnette,
M Sappenberghs. Goals - Kangarilla- M Guitink, S Walker 7, T Yates 4, B Wakefield, M Daniel, D Wall 3, T Thorpe, Nairne
Bremner - J Poster 3, L Percy 2, C Jinnette.

Birdwood 32.5 (197) d Macclesfleld 16.7 (103).
Best – Birdwood: J Shepherd, S Connell, S Dawes, C Moerman, J Davis. Macclesfield: T Lynch, B Fogden, R Mclntyre, A Brewer,
T Clack. Goals - Birdwood: C Moerman 9, H Schutz 6, J Curtis 4, T Hanna 3, J Junc, P Sumner, D Smith 2, N Palmer, P Low, J McGuire,
S Bubner. Maccleslield: A Brewer 5, K Rembelow, R Van Raathoven, R Goody, T Clack, R McIntyre, A Julian, B Fogden.

Nairne and Maccy are in big trouble. I thought Nairne would struggle to stay in the 5 this year. But Maccy!!!!! From bad to worse, to even worse, to dead set deplorable. They have (or did have) virtually a new team compared to 2 years ago, and have not achieved anything.
Can someone shed some (more) light. ODB, get out of the Nelson Tavern and tell us what is going on.

Dammit! Thought my predictions were better than that! I must have picked that after round one (Onkas flogged by110)
Tell you what, saw the derby at Heathfield...if ironbank can steal another win, Bridgey are guaranteed a wooden spoon.
Lofty won by 210 points, and that's after 1 or 2 average quarters. They only kicked 6 in the first and ended up with 31.
Anyone else at Central games?
Country looks like a league of 2 halves...
I know someone that's good mates with SR. haven't heard any rumours.

Yeah, very sad for Bridgey, saw some players who would struggle to play B's for Mt Lofty running around in the A's. Devils B grade vs Bridgey A's, that would be a close game! Great to see Leith Dawes celebrate the 250th with a long goal, and the mobbing he recieved after was great. Also on Rusty, Owen claimed in the budget he would be heading back to the Hills next year, many rumours floating round.

I reckon Lofty B's could have accounted for Bridgey A's without too much drama.
Is what Chook's saying true, Indian? Surely someone wouldn't bring up themself as a topic of discussion...

Hey Chook and Pig Skin you started the rumours about S Russell, but why not go back to your sources and get some facts.

There are five games left in the season and he is playing well at a club where he played his junior football and will play finals football this season, something he was not able to do at Ironbank. Good players dont start blabbing about where they are playing next season until after the finals are run and won. Someone probably saw him talking to an official from GSL up at Berri and put two and two together and as for him coming back to Hills Footy, Owen said that because he is his love child.

Fair call Thunder pants,

I did say from the start that the source was not that reliable thats why I wanted to ask the forum to see if anyone else had heard anything.

Your right, that Russell is playing well, and will play finals, hopefully he does well, cos he is a good player and a better bloke as well

Forums are full of rumours, I don't think there's a need for anyone to get too precious about it.
Be pretty funny if he did end up changing leagues, as was suggested.
Indian - $1.50. Too long, I reckon Trigga's got it. Maybe a couple of Uri lads, then Stansborough. But I think he'd be miles ahead.
Thunder - can your boys find another win and avoid that spoon? Blackwood aren't as beatable as they were earlier...you'd only need one more...
