Surely you blokes at Houghton would want to stay in Div 6 if you had the chance. Looks better for the club when they are trying to recruit I would think.

The Leagues Rules & regs are clear both clubs must agree if not then normal process
In other words if Houghton dont want to stay up as is their right then Henley have no choice what so ever
So Div 6 will have either Houghton or Henley - forget about anyone else
That is of course unless Henley drop back to only 3 sides - then a different ball game

There's a good reason we finished bottom and got relegated. However, if we looked like putting together a stronger side to the one we had this year then I think we'd take the opportunity to stay up.

Don't know how they will work it and I also don't agree with being able to decline promotion if you were willing to win and celebrate should take the good with the bad and have to go up.

Hey Growler, not sure if you would get the chance to. If I remember correctly Klompy played in the B Grade at Wingfield when they had 2 teams. Would assume if he was to go around again and Ovies had 2 teams it would be in the magoos.

2 finalists also have the choice to accept or decline promotion under the rules & regs, Henley also being a C & D Grade would be very loath to go up and struggle and as you stated have only to advise saafl that they are struggling for numbers and will only submit a C side and can always change their mind and nominate a 4th later.

I think you will find if they have to go up they will
They are a strong club that would prefer to stay down but I dont think their numbers will drop off
Plus they wouldve already nominated that they have 4 sides again unless they have a large exodus

you got it! Klompy was lucky to get games this year i reckon... 98 goals is a poor effort for him! we carried him the whole way. he did say he has retired but my guess is he'll get a bit itchy on the sidelines and strap the boots on again after about 3 games and yeah, it'll be in the magoos!

numbers wise i reckon we'll be more than fine. a few blokes have come out of the woodwork and there is talk of a lot comin over.

then henley will be in c1, with 1 side. they need to bring back c6 for all the teams that have c and d grades.....but youll find this year may be a little different. as ive said before......ttg modbury henley shoc athelstone smosh etc are all div 1 and 2 clubs.....with shoc and modbury getting promoted they will go from div7 for shoc to c1 and div c2 to c1 for modbury....it makes sense...think this is the best way and with all theses so called teams adding b gr to div 7 then its all they can do......has someone else got a thought..my opinion is henley will be in c1 with the other div1 s c grades and the d gr should be in the newley formed c6
THE NEW ERA BEGINS.....HIRD AND THOMPSON.....EX CAPTAINS EX CHAMPIONS EX.....cellent choice

As has been stated, Div 7 could be made up of the following:

Adelaide Uni (C/D)
Angle Vale
Flinders Uni
Houghton District
Mitchell Park
Nth Pines
Ovingham
St Pauls
Wingfield

That's nine teams. Tenth spot goes to a Div 1 clubs C/D grade or they leave it at a nine team comp. Henley to play Div 6.

Henley will not go up, will exercise right to stay down

Only if Houghton want to stay up - if not then up Henley will go

With Edwardstown going to southern league all sides from div 2 down will be effected and flow on will mean that 2 sides (competing in GF) will be promoted and only 1 side will be relegated, having said that no side has to go up if they do not wish to be promoted and can exercise their right to remain in current division. Henley being a C & D Grade side WILL NOT go up as they may struggle to remain competitive with older players and consistent numbers as all C & D Grade sides do. A side coming 3rd can be asked if they want to be promoted, but honestly why would you if you weren't good enough to make the GF.
henley will struggle with older players and numbers....what a load of crap. henleys c grade age average would rival most Agrade clubs. they wont struggle for numbers...hopefully theyll be in c1 to test them

saafl will not force them to go up regardless of age or ability. Didn't see them in the first half of the year but did see results and with no injuries in higher grades were ticking along very nicely, did see in second half and losing players to injury and b grade did impact with their results suffering.
I do agree with what you said above and have stated before that if willing to contest the ultimate prize then should be willing to go up regardless and also that div 1 & 2 clubs should have to field 4 sides so their c & d's compete against each other.

going on the past, henley will have their c & d grade in at least div 7 as they've nominated in these grades in years past without the same depth that they had in 08. it gets players playing against better structured teams and often better quality players plus they're playing time on games similar to their a grade sides. i know in the past, uni have preferref having their c grade play a grade sides for the above reasons. uni's c grade for several years prior to 07 were competitive in div 6.

if henley won div 7, they'd walk through c1 without too many problems i expect even if the blacks'chardonnay socialists may provide an obstacle :)
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Word is if they can just get the odd game out of the old fellow and qualify him for finals then if needed he would be a handy inclusion if the bs make it.NUGGETY also heard Riggs is going again and bringing his cousin who played A grade country, and Lance's next door neibour is coming out and he played div 1 res this year sounds like 2 handy pick ups.If Cooke puts in a big preseason and commits to training then id say he could captain the As next year? Also heard Chris is going to play in the Bs next year great skills but lungs will last 5 mins

Any more news on whether North Pines and Wingfield look likely on getting the numbers to field two sides next year. I know that a mate of mine visited little Barb this week to see if she had heard how the numbers are looking out at the Pines for next year. Also any confirmation on whether Browny has headed back to Wingies for next year.
