Cardiologist once kept me waiting close to 3 hours .
I have a doctors surgery at the end of my street.BUT it takes a week or two weeks to get an appointment.Five minutes away by car is a doctor you don't need an appointment .You may have to wait from 5 minutes to an hour or so BUTthat beats a week or two.

And a lot of the present crop of GPs are approaching retirement age - from memory I think it is about 40%. So it is not going to get better.

First is the changing view of work. Younger doctors are seeking a lifestyle that does not involve the 50-hour or 60-hour weeks of their predecessors. They want quality of life, time with family and friends, a life outside work.

It is not just local, so importing doctors is not the easy answer: http://www.boston.com/yourlife/health/o ... re_crisis/

I once turned up at FMC to honour an appointment made for me as part of some post-accident rehab. 2 hours later and the f*** doctor still hadn't shown. He was paged and eventually showed up 2.5 hours late. By this time the surgery was deserted, it was after hours and the admin had gone home for the night, no other patients left waiting. He showed me into the office and had the gall to say "so, what do you want?" I didn't make the appointment, you f***** son of a *****

Last Friday I spotted a bloke in a slouch hat selling poppies at the train station. Was a bit early for that, I thought.

Saw another bloke selling poppies yesterday. Thought I'd wait until today.

This morning (11/11) I got to the train station and actively went in search of a poppy seller. Do you reckon I found one?

I was getting this Letter from the QEH telling me I had this appoinment .i had cancelled it about a year after my last knee op .they kept sending me a letter saying it was moved etc etc this went on upto this year .We stopped phoning them gave up.
Finally they sent me a letter telling me If I didnt attend that was it !!!
Took about 2 years for them to get the message I didnt need the appointment .
Did I really need a stuck up surgeon to tell me after 2 knee cleanouts (and u need a knee replacement BUT u wont be having one) I should have a sit down job !!!!
Yes sir at my age with no skills yeah right.
They let everyman and his dog on an invalid pension .But after a second opinion from a private stuck up surgeon. hey mickyj you have to keep working but be advised you good knee is almost as bad as your bad one .BUT hey you have job !!!!
TOO BAD I am going to be a cripple by the time I retire .
Just as long as I still go fishing
