again would need to be corrected but I think for a motion to be passed it needs to be 70% majority, so in essence it wouldnt matter cm if all RFL delegates voted yes it still cant be passed if all indys vote no???? so its a joke when a league can vote on a points system they dont even have themselves, did the indys vote on the original motion to have a points system???

Yes, he was points.

I reckon there's a couple of people here that would know accurately.

No they did not have a vote on the points system neither did the big 6 ( It was adopted by the RFL to replace the salary cap and Greg Reeks had done all the leg work for it)
When the points system came in, it was only for the big 6 because of the indy's not having a salary cap to work to.

At that delegates meeting they DID have the opportunity to change it but choose not too (Check the minutes if you like )
I for one would like to see Indy players as no points

I'm pretty sure that Storic was points and Pearson was not. Might have to check with club management, but we were way under the limit anyway once Shane and Aitchison left.

Anyone know Luke Cooper?

He will play for Renmark next year.
He has moved to this region from Adelaide to start work in his new job.
He will play at Renmark just purely through luck of what town he rolled into and where he lives now.

He's about 6'4" and I'm tipping that he can go a bit.

But in relation to the points debate, it will be interesting how his case will be viewed.
I'm not Schizophrenic and neither am I

I don't know who your are, or if you are indy or RFL but I am sorry, but even though the indy's don't have a point system it DOES involve them. IT IS THERE PLAYERS THAT ARE INVOLVED. I could see the BIG SIX taking the Indy better players. (Not a bad thing for some of the players). If an Indy player is good enopugh to play in the As in the BIG SIX their clubs are always the first to say give it a go. I could see the BIG SIX offering the better Indy players the world to get them to thier clubs and when they get them the promises fall through. If any of the Indy guys are good enough to make the BIG SIX the BIG SIX would have them if they were two points or not. How many Indy's move to the BIG SIX and continually play A Grade.
Yes the point System has a few faults. But would you prefer to go back to the Salary Cap which was impossable to police as we all know there was a lot of money going under the table in both the Indy and the RFL.
From what I have been told CM is on the money the RFL could have changed ith point system at the last AGM but it was voted against. A couple of the RFL clubs voted against it on the night. The trouble is the BIG SIX don't give a second though on the Indys. The indys are always told you are taking our players. But lets face it when most of the Indy players turn 17 a lot move on to the RFL and a lot never return to their original clubs. There is room in this area for the two leagues but I think they need to work together not against each other.

BBJ I love the indy league as it get more blokes having a kick each week, but why should they vote on the points system, we dont let the barossa league vote on how many points their league should incurr ?? or ask the SANFL how many points a league player should get in the RFL .Dont reckon we really see indy players getting aggresively poached by RFL clubs, my issue comes down to, for example - a couple of young lads , say from Lyrup who want to have a go at Berri but are restricted by 2 points each and are told they cant play A grade because of points ....

I wasn't points, and rightly so. But I think there was some administrative blunder having me down as points where we had to meet with Tim Jackson and Co to establish that I moved here before deciding on which club I was going to play for.

I don't quite get the flower pot men quip, but anyway.

Agree in essence with BC, but there are a few posters who pose some good points both for and against.

Is it too late to review it or what's the go?

OxnFox, How do you know about Luke Cooper? Do you have any history on him or is it just pre season hype?

I think its gunna be reviewed at the AGM this year
I think they are gunna try an lower the points per team if last AGM is anything to go by
Reeks wanted it at 14 this year and 13 or 12 for season 2009
Indy's will not be voting on this issue

Mobile. About six foot.
Should have gone a lot further than he has.
A strong farm boy.
Likes to mix it up in the tough stuff.
Play at either end and in ruck.
Was a member of Loxton's most recent premiership side.
Had most of last season off as far as I remember, although he did play some games.

Here's some suggestions I think are worth looking at:

1) Clubs be allocated extra points to use when a player goes to Adelaide to play for their respective SANFL club to cover that player's absence.

2) Any person that lives and works in the area for 12 months be considered a local.

3) Independent players be no points, they're locals already aren't they?

SS
If the player goes to Adelaide and then succeeds and goes onto to play 300 afl games (roo, edwards) how long do the points stay on for (15 years)? Same would apply even if it were SANFL games. Plenty of country footballers do it. Dont think that will work or would be fair.
What happens to people that get transferred to the area for work like school teachers and police officers - surely they shouldn't have to wait 12 months. Automatic zero for me. I also think anyone with a trade, degree, diploma or apprenticeship should also fall into this category as well. Exclude people with casual jobs and make them wait 12 months.
Independants - agree.
