Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield – v Retravision Warriors

Postby the joker » Fri Nov 07, 2008 10:09 pm

Graham Manou ©
Cameron Borgas
Mark Cleary
Dan Cullen
Callum Ferguson
Peter George
Dan Harris
Michael Klinger
Aaron O’Brien
Gary Putland
James Smith
Allan Wise

Only 2 changes Gary Putland and James Smith to debut,

Cosgrove not even in the 12!!!!

Shaun Tait has not been selected as a precautionary measure due to tightness in his left hamstring but this will not affect his availability for forthcoming Twenty20 and one day matches.

I know what you mean by the title; I actually thought you mean by "Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield" that it was the code for "bye match". You get 6 points for turning up.

James Smith
Dan Harris
Michael Klinger
Callum Ferguson
Cameron Borgas
Aaron O’Brien
Graham Manou ©
Mark Cleary
Dan Cullen
Peter George
Allan Wise
Gary Putland (12th)

This is how i'd have them line up.
I was wondering who would get dropped for Cullen as George picked up a 6 wickets on debut, Wise has been economical, would be a long tail without Cleary and Tait has the x-factor but Tait's hamstring tightness made the decision easier.
Disappointed Cosgrove isn't in the team but Smith and Borgas have earnt their spots. Hopefully Cossie is in the OD team though

Tait out injured, Khan out Pakistan, but not sure why Dan Harris isn't playing - he must be injured too?

pretty sure he's coming back.

Younis back in Pakistan, Plant dropped AND Harris injured and STILL no room for Cosgrove?
Think Cooper's made a few runs in Grade Cricket but his 2nd XI performances have been far from impressive

I dunno about overrating his ability, I would consider that to be through comments such as "Cosgrove should be playing for Australia", I don't think anyone has ever spoken that highly of him. He is currently further from that than he ever has been, but he is one of the best bats in the state and should be given his chance...absolutely ludicrous that he hasn't been picked.

When I see the word 'talented' bandied about about Cosgrove I begin to laugh. When someone suggests that Cosgrove is better than Yonis Khan I'm on the floor. I cannot remember any sustained dismemberment of a good attack from this guy EVER. The way that SOME (not all) go on about him you'd think he's the next Boof Lehmann, and The Boof would even have him covered in the fitness stakes as well.

i still think the worry is manou batting at 6. with him at 6 it is showing the strength of the states batting at the moment. If we are picking 6 batsman, 1 keeper and 4 bowlers, i think there has to be 6 better bats then manou in this side.
And when do people think Chadd Sayers will get picked? wat more can he do, wise is 29 or there abouts, why not play sayers who is only 21/22. He has made runs, taken buckets of wickets and been runner up in the bradman medal for the last two years! Dan Harris is a big loss not just his batting but i think he provides alot of stability and support for Manou on the field.
Who are the vice captains this year?
