I have heard that Josh Keller isn't to return to the pies next year?

Not sure on the reasons why but they would miss him in the side if this is the case.

He does alot of the bullocking work in the packs and around the ground for them and will be hard to replace.

Apparently back to BDT.
Big loss for the Pies.
No doubt they've got the depth to cover it though.

Since I've been in the Riverland, Waikerie has made the top 4.
It would be kinda weird if they didn't make it.
Not saying that they won't cos they've obviously got plenty of depth and Troy will no doubt attract some new players.

I'd like to get everyone's opinion on the points system in the RFL. Does anyone agree that there needs to be some type of concession each year for say the bottom two clubs from the previous year? Unless the club has some outstanding junior players coming through, it will be very hard for those bottom clubs to compete with the top teams while being allocated the same amount of points? I think the struggling clubs should be given extra points to allow them to get that one or two extra players to make them more competitive. It's very hard for the struggling teams, because traditionally, it is harder to keep your travelling players while a club is struggling. If you are losing two or three recruits each year, you are already on the back foot for the following year, as all you can do is replace them which uses all your points up, rather than keeping them and getting your extra three players to add to that list. It's just an opinion and I'd be keen to see what everyone else thinks about it.

points system should be scraped all together, the league arnt transparent with it. oposition sides dont know wont each teams have used. teams get someone new to their club get them a job and then they are no points, far too many grey areas with current system imo

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I reckon after a couple of years they were going to start grading the points. Not sure if that's the case though.

By giving concessions like you've suggested BC, wouldn't that be an artificial manipulation of the competition?
Surely, the points system is just like any other recruiting issue - if you put the right things in place, provide a good club to play at, you will retain your recruits.

the biggest joke is indy players incurring 2 points..... has anyone ever paid an indy player to come across to an RFL club... only has the potential to deprive a kid who might want to play the best footy he can..

The mistake which was made was the fact that the year they bought in the points system the top teams had an advantage straight away.

The clubs were allowed to all get a maximum of 14 points from that time, so automatically the top teams had an advantage by having more recruits from the year prior.

should be an import system which the NEFL use, that way the higher you finish the less imports are allowed and the lower you fall the more imports you can gain.

All up in the air open for everyones opinions i guess. But on ething is for sure the salary cap does not work i am sure we can all agree on that one.

It's not artificial manipulation at all. That's like saying the bottom teams in the AFL should not get priority draft picks over the teams above them? All I'm saying, is while the current points system is in place, it is going to be hard for those struggling teams to bridge the gap on the top teams. The RFL need to take a good look at the system if you ask me.
