In the UK it is their right bayman. Other vehicles are legally obliged to let the bus pull out and join the traffic.

One of those govt directives to encourage people to us the bus, by cutting down journey time.

it is the same here but what i'm saying is they (not all of them) just pull out without looking & there will be a side swipe sooner or later if there hasn't been already & i don't mean when a car is behind the bus & you give way to them i mean when a car is side by side with a bus, surely as much as a driver has to drive safely surely a bus driver has to drive with the same care ?

Definately Bayman, the bus stop near my house is at the bottom of a steep hill. 10m before the bus stop is a steep decline. 10m after the bus stop is a steep incline. Only a matter of time before a bus causes a crash there, and it is going to be a big one.

I wasn't disagreeing with you bayman. I was just saying what the law is in the UK, but apparently it's the same in Oz too. (Cheers pafc1870).

Agree, there are some pretty poor bus drivers around who think that because they have right of way, it means 'just pull out without a care to other drivers'

As a pedestrian I assure you that car drivers can be just as ignorant and inconsiderate

Unless of course they are all bus drivers on their day off

1.Pedestrians who dawdle across the road and make you slow down. If you give them a gentle non aggresive toot they abuse and carry on.
DON'T THEY REALISE A CAR WILL KILL THEM

2. Pedestrians walking back to their cars at a shopping centre, in the middle of where the cars drive, expecting cars to give way,
DON'T THEY REALISE A CAR WILL KILL THEM

I was taught to give way to cars, don't we do that anymore???

For these delusional religious fanatics death holds no fear for them and life merely appears as a joke.

I'll be glad to know they are gone but it does nothing to bring back the people who are sadly missed.
