Roberstown know they would be coming to a stronger comp and I dare say they are planning to make their team stronger. If they pick up a couple of former juniors who decide to play there because the league is closer to Adelaide it could make a big difference to their team. Playing against better opposition will also make them stronger.

It doesn't take much time to turn around a footy club either. Look at Hamley a few years ago and Barossa Districts over the last 4 years. Swamp might like all the byes so he can go fishing more but I say you should giv Robbies a chance.

The common denominator in Hamley's rise (for 1 year), Barossa's, Freeling's and any other bottom to top fairy tale story's is cash and plenty of it, not something I'm sure Robertstown has a lot of.

I thought they had a bit of money?

So if we were betting men (which we all are) what odds are we at for Robertstown to join the APFL? 5 to 1?
3 to 1?
even money?
or shorter than even money?

I think that the SANFL will consider football in the Mid Murray region as the most important factor. The Roberstown move was brought on by another club in that league trying to move to the Riverland. Robertstown then thought 'well the leagues going belly up, lets piss off'.

They'll consider what the other club's options are and whether it is viable to have a league there at all. They still might deny both moves and keep the league as is. The sad thing is I think some clubs in that area will have to go, it seems as if the population just isn't there to support them.

I reckon it's more around the 25/1 mark.

He's in Roberstown applying for the coaching job. They don't have computers there.

i know of one indy player who will be leaving their current club to play at ramco in 09. interesting times for a competition that im sure a lot of people think should fold to get players into RFL

looks like Robertstown will be without a league unless they join our's

if the post from the BIG SEXY is factual then I would suggest Robertstown joining the APFL will be odds on!!

lets hope so would be so much better in the apfl to have even number of teams. At the moment there is too many byes and you play each other too many times.

Also like the same club's proposal for finals game allocation, GF to rotate between Balak, Mallala and United, other finals games to rotate between other 4 clubs. Seems equitable as the bigger purse gained in GF is shared between 3 and the other 4 get to share the purse from the 3 other games each year.

Seems like 2 pretty decent proposals to me as well Jumbo!

obviously someone has some some homework! look like to pretty fair ideas!
doing some quick sums over 12 years (assuming 7 clubs)
balak, mallala, united get 4 GF's each
others get 9 finals

KO, I'm a betting man but even if you gave me 150/1 odds of Robertstown joining I'm not sure if I'd take them up.

Yes Unc - if you then equated average income for GFs and other finals my gut feeling is that it would be quite equitable amoung all clubs ($ that is).

My feeling is you'd lose your money Jumbo. Suggestion: Perhaps only put $1 on it, then you're not losing much
