One of the best things about Kreigey besides being a quality player, is that he will bring other players to the club over the coming seasons.

Lets see if it works both ways, that Birdwood can look after the recruits as well as the recruits being faithful to the club.

Said 2 years ago if Birdwood didn't start spending they'd be wasting their time in Central Div. By spending I meant on quality recruits, and by the sounds of it they have, but they'll need more than that to be competitive.

hopefully the rest of the troops are up to Kriegs training standards - its a win win situation anways

Word From the Cabbage Patch is that Simon Eberts Brother Daniel Will be putting the boots on for the demons while they apparently are chasing a past SANFL (200cm) ruckman who will come in handy.

So will u let more than 3 go to a neighbour in this situation?

Not seniors anyway, but have heard that a few of the premiership winning 17's are jumping ship, and not the ones who missed out on the GF but some quality players.

That's a copy and paste from the last 2 summers.
Back it up with names and where you heard it.
Perhaps an even smarter approach would be to concentrate on what's happening closer to home.

Unfortunately this is true, have spoken to a few lads looking to go to Echunga. Happy to name names once the paper work comes in to make it official as discussions are still happening. The term "quality" would apply to half!

Shoe Boy,

if i remember correctly, Mike coached ironbank under 17's in 2007.
he did a less then respectable job and also got on the wrong side of the parents.
i believe he promises the world but for ironbank he never delivered.

Absolutely devastated to hear tonight that Jimmy Gardner has passed away.
Great bloke was Jimmy in the short time I knew him and was alway happy to help out round the club.
Will be sadly missed at Heathfield.
Thoughts are with his family.

RIP Jimmy.

The ruckman you are referring to is Matt Down from North Adelaide. He has agreed to play with Uraidla next season. Daniel Ebert will also play with Uraidla next season.

Agree would have thought Uraidla would struggle with the points in bringing these 2 on board. Not sure if Down would by 5 as probably played majority two's this season but none the less can't see how an additional 8-10 points on top of existing points can work. Unless of course there are a couple of people previously attracting 3 or so points leaving? Good luck to them if they can fit them in. Anderson back as well will help.

GTS - With all due respect which recruits were they? I'm not sure who you are referring to. I can't recall any recruits playing B grade last season. Even with our best team on the park last year we still had a few points up our sleeve. D.Ebert wants to play with his brother and actually came to the club on his own accord.

If Uri's are going to be any chance of giving Lofty a shake they need a good ruckman hence why they chased Down. Guys like Bawden & Bowen have smashed us in the ruck. There isn't exactly a local ruckman waiting in the wings.

I'm sure at all clubs there a few disgruntled players (I've read a lot about disgruntled players from Lofty & Blackwood on here) when new players come to a club but this should act as motivation for the guys who are missing out to work harder. Down isn't exactly 'stealing' anyone's position.

Slippery Pete - From what I have been told even with these two on board it still leaves Uraidla with 4 points up their sleeve.

I'd say you will be lucky to see Anderson next season; maybe towards the end. He snapped all four ligaments in his knee and had a fair bit of cartiledge removed.

Wouldn't have thought given the number of ex SANFL League and reserves players coming to the club recently this would have been the case Ted, however you appear close to the club so you probably know whats going on better than anyone.

Agree with you a good ruckman is a must in any league. Particularly country leagues. Bawden, Bowen and Nicholas proved this is the case this season. Down will be handy as he is quite mobile for a big guy - although a bit soft IMO.

I heard Birdwood were after the services of that ruckman. Do birdwood even have a ruckman? didn't look like it last year. Down would have been handy.

Someone explain recruit point system to me???

SP the majority have been there for at least 3 seasons so as I'm sure you are aware every year they are there they lose a point. Tim Martin was the only new SANFL player recruited last season.

Thankyou Ted, yes I am aware of the point reduction process. Certainly highlights the benefit of recruiting players, particularly those that are worth 4/5 points, that will stick around for a number of years. Under the new points system clubs have got to do their research and not get caught having to replace experienced SANFL/reserves players every year.

My understanding of the points system is that it is based on where/the level of footy you played for the majority of the season prior. AFL - 6, SANFL Lgue -5, SANFL Res - 4, Stronger leagues i.e. SAAFL divs 1,2 (&3??), RMFL, BL&G etc 3, Other remaining leagues i.e SAAFL div 4 & below 2. So if a player played 5 SANFL league and 15 reserves the previous season they'd be a 4 in the Hills. Every year you remain at the club you drop a point until you become a 'local' i.e. worth 1 point. Happy for anyone to correct/clarify as not 100% on point allocation above if i'm wrong.
