THere would be a few fringe league players that just couldn't get into the Doggies league team that might be looking for opportunity elsewhere ?

To be honest though Phil the only reserve players who could of expected to play more in the league squad would have been Louis Hadden, Heath Lawry and Earl Shaw.

The rest of the squad was all under 22 years old and have had no more than two years of reserves football.

Our reserves this year may have been one of the youngest reserves squads ever, at times the only players over 22 years old was Nathan Steinberner and Luke Cowan.

I reckon Lee Spurr, Alex Stengle (before he left for Kilburn), a fit Leigh Westhoff, Kane Officer, Keiran McShane, Cameron Faulkner (before he went up to Roxby), Chris Musolino (before he left for Virginia), Luke Barmby and Ashley Duncan would probably be good enough to be in the league side of a few other clubs. Yes the side was young but that is the way it is in the ressies and has been that way for a while now.

Just a question Big Phil, has there ever been an ordinary player pull on the Doggies jumper ?
-A few of those named above certainly fall into that category and previosly you've named a few Central players that were serviceable at best yet you throw the "great" tag upon them.

I did forget Lee Spurr but the others IMHO

Alex Stengle- fitness and commitment were always an issue while at Central, never strung more than 4-5 good games togetehr.
Leigh Westoff- was in Lairdy's best 21 but continued playing while injured which caused him a form slump, he is no fringe player, a league certainty when fit.
Kane Officer- first year back after a lay-off, lacked a touch and fitness big time, he surely couldn't have thought he would play league this year.
Kieran McShane- Played solid reserve footy in his first year down, will get his oppurtunity this year, don't think he would of expected to walk into our league side this year either.
Cameron Faulkner- chose to leave and he couldn't say he wasn't getting a fair go in the league side after his performances.
Chris Musolino-he quit at the start of the year missed all pre season and then decided to do on, was never going to make the league side with no pre season behind him.
Luke Barmby-will never play league SANFL at his current 60kg frame, hit the gym and keep up current form and his a chance.
Ashley Duncan-Brilliant talent but it was only his second year of reserves football he will give it a crack this year, i don't think he would have been expecting to play league for the best SANFL team within two years.

Point out to me where I said these guys were "great" ???

I just said that given the opportunity at other league clubs, they may be able to fit into the best 21 there, that's all.

Mate, there have been plenty of VERY ordinary players to pull on a Doggies jumper. Just look in the thread about dud SANFL recruits, there will be a few worthy names in there.
