Not having a go at anyone really, and I can't speak for all clubs, but i would say that most blokes regardless of where they come from are welcomed to all clubs, it's how they get on with it that get's them the votes at the club later at the awards.

Country clubs aren't run the same as Amateur clubs, and i'm not here to say whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, but one thing that Boozey pointed out is correct, Recruits do get judged by a higher standard and so they should. Maybe this is because there is a long history of blokes commanding a few $$, and have delivered less than a cross eyed mailman, or perhaps it is that These guys have been invited to play at the football club, and most are certainly getting paid, so there fore you've only got to look around the bar at 8:30pm on any given saturday night to see the blokes who sponsor the club, who kick in the funds so that these blokes can get a kick.
They are doing it for a reason i know, but any club would like a reasonable return for their investment, and if blokes show up for the cash, don't get a kick (Ricky O, i'm talking about you!!!! ) they pretty soon get the big FO.

Most country clubs welcome new players in, But you can pretty soon find yourself all alone in a crowded clubroom if you are struggling to find form, perhaps it's the nature of the beast, but one thing to note is that the APFL clubs are far more welcoming than the BLG, and a bit more than the SAAFL.

Just to move on, is anyone really that keen for Robertstown to join the league or should we just get on with it?

very well pointed out Rooster, it`s very hard to make comparisons from APFL to other leagues.but what i will say it always looks a hello of a lot easier from the sidelines in any league. Many players come and watch a game of APFL and say i would dominate in this com. But how many of them actually do or would?
++ Are you going to have a role off the field in the A grade next year? ++
Just play 6 or 7 games in the magoos would be enough to qualify i think they will be up there again next year they have some good young talent..

i definitely will have an off field role, but drinking beer is probably not really a specialized task!! No Really, i hope to be able to help in any way that i can, not sure about the six or seven games though, may just have to ease up there Sonny!!

Yeah Im pretty keen for an extra team, the byes a pain in the exhaust pipe. If your not playing finals football in the APFL you could get 3 or 4 seasons out of a pair of boots at the moment, even night owls has 20 games in Wakey!

I do know that a proposal for the import rule has been put up for discussion at the next league AGM - seemed pretty good to me based on previous years finish and population to determine number of imports. <1500 population start with 4 imports, otherwise 3. Finish 1&2 get 1 additional, 3&4 get 2, 5&6 get 3, 7 gets 4. I'll leave it to you to work out where your clubs slots.

Also like the same club's proposal for finals game allocation, GF to rotate between Balak, Mallala and United, other finals games to rotate between other 4 clubs. Seems equitable as the bigger purse gained in GF is shared between 3 and the other 4 get to share the purse from the 3 other games each year.

Also depends on whether recruits hang around for a beer on a Saturday night. Most blokes tend to fit in well when they support the Club after home games.

Robertstown would struggle in this league big time and we dont need another battling club do we? They have a captain coach that was a B grader at Hamley and by all reports they struggle to get numbers up? Whats the point? Plus i couldnt think of anything worse than travelling all the way upo to Robertstown in the middle of winter, so I cant imagine why on earth they would want to travel all the way to places like Virginia to get a belting!
How many people would we expect to get to a final held up there?

SANFL have given the go ahead for Ramco to join indy comp aslong as they change their colours.

i know of one indy player who will be leaving their current club to play at ramco in 09. interesting times for a competition that im sure a lot of people think should fold to get players into RFL

Roberstown know they would be coming to a stronger comp and I dare say they are planning to make their team stronger. If they pick up a couple of former juniors who decide to play there because the league is closer to Adelaide it could make a big difference to their team. Playing against better opposition will also make them stronger.

It doesn't take much time to turn around a footy club either. Look at Hamley a few years ago and Barossa Districts over the last 4 years. Swamp might like all the byes so he can go fishing more but I say you should giv Robbies a chance.

The common denominator in Hamley's rise (for 1 year), Barossa's, Freeling's and any other bottom to top fairy tale story's is cash and plenty of it, not something I'm sure Robertstown has a lot of.
