hindmarsh is far from old and dull, great stadium, imo very very modern, could they expand hindmarsh? building a stand on corner like the height of the eastern stand? i dont think we need a 60000 seat stadium, maybe 30,000

Right, so HOW long ago were you there. Did you attend any old NSL games standing on the terraces hanging onto your pram, or were you a little older and go watch the Rams play League ?

The OLD Hindmarsh was indeeed a piece of shit. The new Hindmarsh is the best viewing dedicated FOOTBALL stadium in Australia. As RM said the capacity is just too small.

Also good game for the Reds tonight. Well played and **** you Perth Glory for not moving the game to help us out.

 your an angry man, I don't know what game i went to watch but i could walk, so must have been in the last 10 years.

I ain't having ago at Adelaide United or anyone, good on them, I am just saying that Hindmarsh is sh1t and isn't up to standard of other World Class stadiums and I don't expect it too be because Soccer doesn't attract as many people here in Australia. I am saying that they need to upgrade the piece of sh1t or build a new one because Soccer is getting BIGGER here in Australia.

Not really sure why you are pissed with Perth for not moving the game, we actually offered to play the game on the international weekend when NO games were played. If you want to be pissed at anyone, call the FFA who WOULDNT ALLOW a change of fixture.

But see you're wrong. Hindmarsh is indeed world standard. Hell I'd go as far as say the pitch at Hindmarsh would be one of the best playing surfaces in Australia, and would be equal in standard to a lot of EPL and Championship pitches. Hell it'd even be on par with bloody Turf Moor  (that's for JTC). The seating and catering/toilet facilities are well maintained, the location is superb (parking sometimes an issue).

Second of all you contradict yourself
Hindmarsh is sh1t and isn't up to standard of other World Class stadiums and I don't expect it too be because Soccer doesn't attract as many people here in Australia.
, then on the other hand
upgrade the piece of sh1t or build a new one because Soccer is getting BIGGER here in Australia

Right so Football doesn't attract many people in Australia, yet you want to build a new stadium as you can see it getting bigger. :?

mmmm. The fact is that Hindmarsh is never full apart from a rare game or three. Adelaide United only have 8000 members. The capacity is 16 k so therefore they are catering to the member requirements. The day that 30 thousand people join as members is the day that the time to get a new stadium is upon us.

Trust me I would love a new stadium, as I don't particularly like Footy Park, and I also think Adelaide Oval is just a beautiful ground sitting there doing nothing. But until demand warrants it, I can't see one coming unless Footy Park is scrapped and Adelaide Oval is declared a Heritage Zone.

When United first looked like they might make the semis's the clubs where the schedule was conflicting were asked if they'd move. This was before the FFA was approached. Perth refused to agree to move. So pretty sure the FFA wasn't even asked. Queensland Roar had agreed to move, but United was dealt the home leg first so playing up in Brisbane after wasn't too demanding. Central Coast have also agreed to move it's game with the FFA has approved for the final.

IMHO the other lads are right mate, Hindmarsh is an excellent venue, with just the one shortcoming which we're all aware of.

I've never had a problem with the facilities, never had to wait a crazy amount of time for food or beverage and never watched from an area where my vision was obscured (all for around $20)... Which other world class stadiums are you comparing the standards with?

Maybe I have jumped the gun a bit by saying Hindmarsh is sh1t but I still believe we need to upgrade Hindmarsh or build a new stadium. We should just do it now, it will need to be done in 10 years time anyway because the game is growing fast and with a NEW stadium I think more people would come along and watch.

well what is wrong with bulldozing the Mile End athletics centre and building a new complex to accommodate both sports? It should be close enough to shut up the calls for a CBD venue and if they can do both athletics and Soccer in the one venue in Europe then why can't it work here.

Exactly right, surely we can build a new stadium in a better location that attracts all different people and better still accommodates for all kinds of sports.

Because hopefully, for the love of the game and support for RADelaide United, people like me would object until we're blue in the face because stadiums with an athletics track have an atmosphere not too dissimilar with a library.

If SA is to build a new stadium for RADelaide United, it HAS TO BE a football stadium ONLY.

Not having a crack at either of you lads, but a stadium with an athletics track would be utter, utter testicles.

+1

No athletics track at Hindmarsh replacement. Been to the Stade Delle Alpi (sh*te atmosphere), even for the Turin Derby.

In my ideal dream world, we would shut down Manton street from two lanes each way (going to 1 lane each way), and build a mirror of the western grandstand on the Eastern side. We would then bulldoze the northern stand and the FFSA office, and build a German style covered convertable terrace with standing capacity of 10,000 (seating for 3-4,000). We would then fill in the corners, cover the southern end seats, and have a nice little boutique stadium of 28-35,000 for HAL games. I'm not sure if AFC requires all seaters like UEFA, but going from standing mode to seated mode would lose 6k positions and take about 3 hours on German experience. With the extension of the tram and the upgrade of the train network, access would be easier, no real requirement for parking (perhaps run park 'n' ride from the city on the trams/trains). If (massive 'if' I know) we get the World cup, we will have a 7+ year lead time, leaving plenty of time to build a new stadium at Mile End or wherever to accomodate the WC bid. People forget, Japan and South Africa have/will manage to build a majority of the stadiums for their respective World Cups from scratch.

The park 'n' ride concept is something that I wish we did for all AUFC games. It would be great if free shuttle busses (eventually the tram extension) was run from Central Stn/North Terrace to Hindmarsh on match days. In Perth, when you buy a ticket for the AFL/HAL/Cricket whatever, you get free public transport to and from the event. You just show your match ticket to the inspectors on the gates and they let you on. So simple its crazy that we dont do it in Adelaide.
