Hughes you are a dead set gun. And an important innings too from Forrest. We might be bottom of both tables currently but I don't think we'll be down there for too long with this talent coming through. Go you Blueboys, still plenty of work to do.

I was there
Bayman/Tassie/Mal in the Bayman stand

FIRST SESSION

Late MAiL was way too late and run out !
1/2
KHAWAJA not playing
CULLENS first 3 overs
0/9
0/21
0/28
CULLEN it appears is modifying his bowling, I reckon hes bowling slower, and I think in the long run he will benefit
LUNCH 1/112
FORREST 67*
HUGHES 43*
31 overs

At one stage the score was 1/81
FORREST 39
HUGHES 39
I reckon FORREST hit 7 boundarys in a row just b4 lunch

FORREST sensational, virtullay faced TAIT exclusively b4 lunch
HUGHES either left the ball go to the keeper or drove boundaries, looked very compact and impressive
The Tassie proterge looked the part
However OBREINS first over had HUGHES groping and struggling
An extremely confident LBW appeal was turned down

That wuz the First session
2nd session later

Oi, join the cue claiming Hughes to be the next big thing/gun....

Mal and I are in it already... (not that he is my protege Mal, not hard to pick the potential guns when you follow the 17s and 19s)

Mind you he only did it agaisnt SA, he struggled the previous game against WA...

But I agree, expect him to be the longterm replacement for Hayden
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

LUNCH /STUMPS DAY 2
At this stage I had spotted several famous personalities
NA coach Daniel HEALY [a regular visitor]
Russell CROWE
1980 TASSIE MEDALLIST

2/255
FORREST goes for a single he is stranded midpitch
RUN FORREST RUN !
He tries the fielder at mid on throws the ball
RUN FORREST RUN !
The return comes in accurately
RUN FORREST RUN
The wicket is broken
TIMBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBER FORREST is run out
A magnificent innings cut short by a run out
133 FORREST [193 balls] 22 fours
109* HUGHES the pugnacious miniture left hand pocket dynamo is looking every bit a star player

In comes the REB proterge HEINREBIQUES
The stage is set for him to plunder an attack which its only reward were 2 run outs !!!!!!!!!!
Howzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzat
HENREBIQUES out LBW 1
The destroyer was Doc Harris
3/256
THORNLEY out C MANOU B TAIT 36 Off a short ball at the ribs [surprise surprise Dom]

THORNLEY possibly the best player in AU of bowlers who bowl 130km or less[should be in INDIA ?]
Once again the short ball troubles him
4/324

SMITH OUT 0
5/325
This guy is as big as Cossie /Bayman/Mal

STUMPS
5/370
LAMBERT 19*
HUGHES 170* [274BALLS] 1 SIX + 23 FOURS

Yep the little youngSTAR batted the whole day

I was gunna leave half way thru the day but decided to watch Phillip HUGHES bat throughout
This batsman is a coca cola batsman the real thing.

TASSIE MEDALLIST has declared HUGHES as a FAP , I have to agree

SA 313
NS 5/370
NS would not want to chase more than 250 batting last

The 150 for PH
A sizzling back foot cover drive off TAIT which crashed into the pickets
geez

Can I honestly it was a great hour sitting with Bayman and Mal at the oval.

I learnt a few things today from the Ma[l]ster

The first thing you learned
I ring up BAYMAN to come to the cricket
That way Im not the fattest person at the cricket

Can young Phillip make a 200 on debut in a SS game at Adelaide Oval ?
Can COCKLEY take a hat trick on debut in a SS at Adelaide Oval ?

Well hopefully Cosgrove is picked again soon and you won't have to ring Bayman for that reason...

Mate, spending the first two sessions at the Adelaide Oval today, I can tell you Hughes is a dead set gun. Perfect timing, great technique, great footwork against the spinners, and relaxed and comfortable against Tait. He has a cut shot and a straight drive most players would love to have. Should play for Australia very soon.

Also, today showed what should be the end of DCas Shield career for the near future. O'Brien bowled with poise and confidence, while DC bowled the fruit be has bowled for the last 12 months. He is a top notch one day bowler, but not in the Shield. Replace Dc with Cossie.
