People are quick to criticise a bloke who has a wonderful record at International level. Why not criticise the blokes who time after time get a start but fail to go on with it. More to the point why not criticise those that don't let said blokes know that this isn't acceptable.

Andy Symonds failed in his first couple of innings this season for Qld, should they have dropped him? No way. And Khan is three times the player Symonds is.

People aren't interested in facts on this forum Mal. They'd rather believe Andy Flower was a dud cricketer. He broke his hand in his very first appearance in SA when he made about 160-odd for Sturt. After that he struggled to hold the bat, let alone make runs.

I spoke with Andy towards the end of the season and at that stage he was very much looking forward to returning to SA the following year as he was aware he had something to prove. It was his intention to eventually make SA his home. Even at that late point in the year, he still had his hand in plaster.

However, the SACA made certain promises to Andy, i.e. employment and a furnished rental house, but upon failure to deliver these promises for the entire first season he was here, the Flower family thought it best not to return. He also had a young family and thought it best not to keep travelling from one part of the world to the other every 6 months.

It is a real pity he never returned as we would have seen a far more productive Flower in the second season.

He went to England and played County cricket, and from memory he did quite well, to the point of coaching there after he retired from playing.
