I once had a discussion with a colleague after exiting a meeting and heading off to catch a plane.
Why doesn't somebody invent the "Shirt 'n' tie"? It's a tie with a collar already attached, you just slip it over your T-shirt and provided you're wearing a jacket it looks to all of your collaegues as though you are wearing a genuine shirt and tie. Then when you are out of the meeting you just slip the old "Shirt 'n' tie" off and you are in casual mode.
It can't miss.

Another one I thought up was the cat feeder. It's an Eski laid on its side with a wind-up car which is towing a trailer filled with cat food inside it. You wind up the car before you depart on holidays and place it inside the Eski, you then attach a timer to the lid of the Eski. When the timer goes off it flicks a switch and the Eski lid pops open, thus releasing the wind up car towing a trailer load of your cat's favourite cat food.
Yum yum!

You need to live in Japan. That's the ONLY size of bread most supermarkets have in stock.
Not good for us fat expat Aussies that like to eat too much bread all the time, the loaf conveniently "finishes" before I have stuffed myself with too much peanut butter and blueberry jam. ******* small loaf of bread!!

Ever leave your keys/wallett somewhere in your house but can never find them? Assign them a key or wallett pager. It's a little clip that simply fits on your keys or in your wallett. Activate it by calling it's own number from your phone.

There's minor hurdles to handle, but s***t it would have saved me some time.

my dh also had this problem, until we developed a new habit of hanging the keys on the key hook behind the front door every time we come inside.. problem now solvered - we no longer have that hunt around when time least permits...

Agree defrosted bread isn't as good as fresh but it's fine for making toast.

I'll buy a loaf, use about half over a couple of days for sarnies and either freeze the other half to use for toast or dry the bread out in a very slow oven and whizz it up in the processor to make breadcrumbs (for coating fish, chicken etc) which freeze beautifully and keep for ages.

With plastic bags now gone and everyone forced to buy those new bags, how about shopping bags for people with style (women).

Ones that aren't green or blue but actually look designer and are fashionable?

Surely women are more likely to carry around a nice shopping bag rather than a bright green thing.

Don't worry I'm sure your bag making industry etc will be on to it pretty soon (there's money to be made ;) )...ours is. We can now get the long life and biodegradable carrier bags in all sorts of colours and patterns at the supermarkets and the've even started making those wheeled shopping bags that the elderly use in bright colours etc and advertising them as being trendy for all ages. Some have even brought in designer rangers...a popular one here is Cath Kidston or something like that.
