So that's The Eag's and Longies looking for a coach, everyone else o.k. i would guess.

Wonder if Jars got a call before he took the Perth job? :D

So whats your view on how the Rooster`s will go in 2009?
Have promised a bit early in the past few seasons but failed to prove themselves in the latter part of the year. Are you a player out there rooster? are you going around in 2009?

Mark Brandt talks well but struggles to recruit players of any value. Plenty of coaches around like that!

He might try to raid Seaton Ramblers or PHOS, a couple of his old clubs. Not a lot to pinch from Ramblers though.

I couldn't imagine Hummocks wanting more than one or two players coming in though. He wouldn't have to recruit that many players but just get it right with the one or two he does get.

so answer my question?how many finals have united played in a row,not a bad effort, not to many clubs can say that!hummocks must have a few players coming in if they are to be there again,as for mallala,,earl is still coaching, only lost a import due to missing a grand final spot, only one that will be missing, and where does robertstown stand with imports as thats back on the table with ramco wanting to leave that league too, they want to join the riverland somewhere.

Maidenmagpie no-one disputes that they may have made many finals series in a row. If making the finals with a talented side is what matters you have set yourself a low bar.

I would agree with you if you said 'United will make the finals because they always seem to buy players to replace the ones they lose'.

Methinks consistently making the final 4 in a 7 team comp (when two of the teams are basket cases) is nothing to write home about. Consistently making the grand final is more worthy of respect.

I think Mark Brandt would be the first "outsider" to coach the Eagles since I don't know when. I think someone in the past has mentioned on this forum that the Eagles always look for someone from within, but this looks a great move to me. Just what the doctor ordered as far as generating enthusiasm for next year, with every one having to prove themselves all over again. A blank page if you will! =D>

And with all and sundry continuing to write us off ( [-X ) I'm sure there'll be more good to times to come for the mighty Eagles!!!!

only 2 blokes not involved with the league have all the info!

Fester, seems like your only value on this forum is to make smart comments occasionally.

Why not unleash your wealth of wisdom on the world? I have a spare two seconds to read all of it.

my comment was actually worthy of being written
i would hate a new person to the forum to take what you say as gospel

but back to the apfl..

Mythical Creature wrote:My opinion for you old timer donkey on this season in order of finishing goes like this. United, Two Wells, Mallala, Viginia, Hummocks, Balaklava and Hamley a distant last. I beleive as stated earlier that this season will be the closest in recent history from 1st to sixth but as you have asked I have put my aggots on the line and only time will tell if I'm accurate or not.
Before people jump all over me with my placing of Balak and Hummocks in particular I will go through team by team as I see it.
United - Much the same as last year losing Calyun but gaining Graham plus rumoured to have another player or two from Salisbury West to bring more toughness to the side.
Two Wells - Always improving and with a few quality additions to their side as they seem to have recruited well will make them particularly dangerous at the start of the season due to fitness which will get them into the top four. Youthful exuberance will get them to the GF and perhaps a flag.
Mallala - Although losing Hollit, Francis and Fitzgerald (so far) they have a lot of good youngsters to step up and the return of Birchmore will help. They are rumoured to have a few good recruits and are throwing a fair bit of cash around which will get them a quality ruckman. Also allowed an additional import from last year (a very big quirk in the system which has caused lots of angst from other clubs) so will be around the mark again.
Virginia - Obvious improvers with high profile coach and at least 3 top line imports. Will make finals and possibly go further.
Hummocks - Dynasty could be over. Loss of Valentine is big and have no CHB. Barr not around and Chivell injured. No Arnold up forward hurt them at end of last year. Will still be very competitive though and would be a 50/50 finals chance in my book.
Balaklava - Similar side to last year at this stage but will lose some depth due to B Grade retirements. At this stage J Walker out new publican in. Will be competitive but their new guernsey wont see finals this year.
Hamley Bridge - As stated previous post, loss of Harvey, Byster and Lowe puts a massive hole in their side. At this stage will be the easy beats unless their recruiting officer can pull about 5 rabbits out of his hat.

As for the big game at the MCG (Mallala Cricket Ground) tomorrow like last year it will be close like last year, but if Earl and Daniel can grab another 4 wickets each then anything is possible. The smart money is on the Bridge but having Long Plains in my heart I hope Johnny comes home to the Tower. If that happens I can guarantee that I'll be at the tower tomorrow night having a steak sanga with you. Hopefully this year you don't run out of batting partners again donk.

Na ya right guys, Hummocks wont win another flag with all their players leaving.

Good work Ace, proving all the doubters wrong. I was going to do the same thing but I guess its hard when I don't get much time to look at the internet at work. Glad you could fit some time in to do this though to prove how silly some peoples predictions were

I probably will, but maybe in March! Can't possibly do one now. Where's yours from last season (so called) genius.

PS: Since your so knowledgable and think you know everything about this league, answer this. How many APFL games have you attended in the last 5 years??????

I wasn't bagging people for having some fun and trying to predict a ladder.

I have only seen a couple of games in the last five years because I don't play there anymore. This is why I don't pretend to know everything that is happening there.

Are you following me around trying to pick a fight? Try a bit harder you are looking silly so far.
