There'll be no dream Winnell/Victor combination for LCC this year.
Victor's playing at Brown's Well.

BTW - look out Loxton, the power of Pillmore is set to be released on the cricket field!

Can someone shed some light on why Renmark hasn`t re-appointed Exelby as their coach for next season? Would have thought taking them to within a kick of a flag wasn`t a bad result for the club.Did have a chat with some of the Waikerie boys during the season and they rated Ex quite highly.I also note that Waikerie hasn`t named a coach as yet,so would Ex contemplate a move down river to a club which seem to give their coaches plenty of support, and always play in finals?? :ANAL:

As far as I'm aware Ex was making a decision based on his family commitments.
I'd be sure if Ex was interested, he'd be reappointed.

Well done Ex on bringing the club back to the top in your time there.

Venables to succeed Exelby at Renmark.

Renmark Rovers Football Club has appointed Brenton Venables as senior coach for its centenary year in 2009. Venables takes over from former Whillas Medallist Brett Exelby who took the Rovers to their first Grand Final in 13 years in 2008. Exelby has decided to step down for family and business reasons with wife Kate expecting their second child in 2009 and the demands of a family business.

President, Henry DuRieu, said the club fully respects Brett’s decision to step back from senior coaching, and acknowledged that the Rovers were delighted to have someone of Brenton’s calibre and experience available to step into the role. Brenton Venables is highly respected at the Rovers and in the Renmark Paringa District having played for 11 seasons at Renmark including the 1995 A Grade premiership. His coaching record boasts premierships with the Rovers under 15’s (1993), under 18’s (2002) and Seconds in 2007, and he captained and coached Paringa from 1998 to 2000. Venables will be assisted by 1993 Whillas Medallist, John Persinos.

Mr DuRieu applauded Exelby’s 4 years as A Grade coach which has seen the club improve in all grades. 2008 was Exelby’s first year as non-playing coach which helped the club to second spot, falling just shy of Waikerie in the Grand Final by 4 points.

Well that answers that question. So that leaves just Waikerie to announce their coach.Did hear Troy Lehmanns name thrown around at the food and wine festival, also Nathan Tape. You would think that if Lehmann got the job there maybe a few of the older guys staying on for another season and with their thirds playing in the GF some of their youngsters would benefit from his experience.

The clue I was given was that "he'd coached before but not at A grade level".

My mistake, Loxton hasn`t either but Tapes name was thrown around with that one also.I`d say with the way the crops and the water situation are going they`d be after someone cheap.

Troy Lehmannm, Brenton Kay and Craig Griffiths have all put in from my understanding. That came from a prominent member of the club. Also heard Chris Gibson did too. He'd be a handy playing coach.

Here's some goss:

Ryan Proud (Loxton North) and Andrew Nunan (Barmera) training with Gaza already for 2009 along with Blake Wegener.

I've also heard, and I repeat, only heard Barmera have put in a decent offer for Tanunda forward by the name of Kennedy, although it looks likely to fall through.

Barmera midfielder Lachlan Middleton linked with a move to Adelaide with Berri's Lachlan Jennings to play for West Adelaide.

Ryan Byrnes(?) also looking to stay with Westies.

Kennedy was best on ground in the barrossa grand final and was leading goal kicker,so he can play.Did hear the same rumor, apparently $900 a game and Greenwood`s name was used too.Kennedy has also been linked with a SANFL club,so I`d say it`s all bullshit.Got to love the silly season though.

So, Slug....

There are movements going on at North.
Rumour is some former players are on the way back, while Matt Woolford from the Mid North will be training with the club (his GF comes from Renmark apparently), any chances of the Mail Medalist staying on?
