Choccies wrote:09 season should be interesting from reading some of the input on here. With a few new possible additions to the A Grade team, some guys will be forced back to the B's and so on down the line. So alot of the young blokes who think slotting into a B Grade position straight away in the year is a certainty may be mistaken. Spots will be hot in the A's and B's and I can see alot of good talent lining up in the C's and possibly D's and having to force their way in. I'm sure this may deflate a few ego's but it happened this year with alot of kids having to play C's purely out of lack of opportunity... Any thoughts anyone ??

Think of it this way, there were 60 people trying to fit into 44 positions last year add about 10 new players to the club, 10 players for the 18s and its really 80 players competing for 44 positions. Then think about "player x" who has been playing seniors for 3 years now, do you think the coaching staff are going to give me their position over him without even seeing me strut my stuff in the Cs/Ds. You should have yearly goals, and my honest goal for 2009 is try and play as many B-Grade games as possible. if thats 18 then excellent, if its 5 then so be it, I improve on the flaws of my game and come back in 2010 and work harder and a revised goal!

Totally agree Johno37 C grade was good fun last year and managed to bring me home my first GF win! Sometimes you can play in a grade that even though it seems lower you do play some good sides. On there day this season just gone TTG and Modbury would have given some higher grade teams a good game. Both these sides were theier D grade, they had even better C grade sides! Its a good position to be in as a club as the drop from B to C grade wasnt massive this season if done on the right week, ie TTG or Modbury. Im happy playing C grade as im at the other end of my footy playing days, you however mate are still young enough and should still aim to play higher.
