Agree, great post Sir Red. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I came back for last years GF. It was fantastic. I couldn't believe how fast the time past, and even though we got a belting, I cheered every mark, and every goal, fist in the air. I could hear the grog squad, who were stood just behind me, and wanted to go and stand with them for the crack and the beer, but I just didn't want to miss a second of the game.

Just loved it. Lump in the throat stuff.

Ah, a bit of crack, a bit of beer, no wonder the time flew eh? All in good fun unless the crack is the kind that peeps out the tops of them trousers when the grog squad is bending over to pick up their beers. Not a pretty sight!
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I didn't stand with them and didn't have a beer at all. Just watched the footy and cheered on the Roosters.

Yeh, I envy you for it. I could imagine how it would feel being back in Adelaide for a big match in front of a big crowd after being overseas and away from the whole culture for so many years.

The atmoshere at the ground and outside was great. Not quite EPL standard, but great non the less.

I've watched plenty of AFL footy on the tele, and whilst the Melbourne games seem to have a good mix of fans from both sides, I can imagine how sterile the atmosphere must be in Adelaide with the Crows and Power with such a one sided attendance.

Was one of the best week-ends  of my life.

That post of yours Squawk brought a tear to my eye and sent a shiver down my spine. Sorry to hear of your loss but all the memories of going to the footy with your grandma will stay with you forever.

For numbers of years my grandfather (who is still with us and well and truly into his 80's now) would take me to the footy. I would get dropped down at my grandparents place at Underdale and we would either walk up to Thebby Oval or catch the bus into town to Adelaide Oval and watch West Torrens play. More often than not they would be playing Souths, so which made it extra special for me but much annoyance to my grandfather and my uncles who for years tried to get me to follow the Eagles. they could never get me to change who I barracked for.

I started following South when I was about 6 or 7 years of age because my next door neighbour used to play for them back in the 60's. Been a kid, I always thought it was pretty cool having an ex-league footballer living next door to me. Him and my dad (Port Supporter) used to have some good banter between them especially after the 79 Grand Final.

After all these years I still put up with the crap, frustration and jokes that go with following a team that hasn't won a flag since 1964, but I would never change a thing. I'll still support them through the good times and the bad times and get to games as many games as I can with one of my boys in tow with his South jumper on and his footy under his arm.
