My mail is that earl wasn't wanted at m/v as the a grade coach. Players only rated him as a good assistant but not head coach. Not having a go just what I heard.

I`ve heard the same news magoo.
I think he is the front runner at moment from what I hear.
Has anyone on the forum played under him?
If so whats he like as a coach and a bloke?

Played against him when he was at Hahndorf...a while ago
Very intense....very very intense
Sense of humour re footy is nil..all serious
reminds me of Mick Malthouse
Same strut and hairstyle
Typical Rover type Coach
All you want to do is belt him!!!!

Into skills and using the ball well.

Been everywhere..but in saying that he is certainly not a mercenary..Coached most sides to finals but not to sure as to
how many premierships.
Honest, hard working coach
Works for the Govt. ...Water Board I think

Lives at Willunga next door to Todd Steele....my favourite player

stand to be corrected but im a pretty sure he was coach of encounter bay when they lost to willunga in 2005, dont know the bloke but seems very serious when coaching but appears to have a sound game plan etc, i would say would do a good job at morphies

Just want to take a moment to wish Brad Wyhatt all the best at the sharks for 09 and beyond having been associated with brad last year as his assistant at reynella very good coach in every aspect just hope he can adapt to the senior role i know he has got the capabilities, I would say in two years time you will see the sharks sneaking in to finals footy with the structure and game plan brad will teach the boys all the best to brad and the sharks!

Must be a different BP to the one sacked by South.

Support staff were glad to see the back of him.

Apparently he didn't even attend presentation night because he wasn't appointed under 18 coach.

think it would be the same Ben Porter, has coached at Cove and South, now at Valley. Pretty poor not showing up to presentations, but is a good coach, just wasn't what South needed. He will do well with Valleys. Robbie Neill, the new South U/18 coach will do a great job down there.

Since when have South started being such a good judge of character. I can't even remember the last time they played finals let alone win a premiership. I think most people that leave South are glad to see the back of the support staff. Ok... not going to presentation night is probably the wrong thing to do but gee South seem to rub people the wrong way. That club needs gutting from the inside out.
As for Porter I have heard mostly positives and believe Happy Valley have made the correct decision here.

Porter is a positive for Valleys and South have definately rubbed people the wrong way in the past. They played finals footy (and won a match, almost 2!) last year. Inconsistancy is what costs South, they managed to beat the Bays twice this year and somehow still worked their way to 8th place. Culture needs changing and that is very hard.

South never played finals footy last year, it was the year prior to that and probably should have gone further with the team they had. Pyman got the chop last year and their ressies (under the guidance of Trevor Potts) made it to the Grand Final but were beaten by the bays. We all know what happened this year and the best thing for that club would be to get pottsy back and a vast majority of the younger local lads they had running around in that side. Probably with another year under their belt this year the club would be in a good position for the coming year and beyond. Hopefully, sambo can get him back there, but i doubt it.

Happy Valley have done extremely well in signing Benny Porter, the guy is a quality bloke, who is very passionate about his football, top coach and gun footballer in his day. IMO south have made another mistake in losing him, but hey thats south thru and thru!!

You Morphett boys should be ok with your committees decision I mean they haven’t steered you wrong in the recent past have they look at your history juniors and seniors.
We had Wilson a while back too you guys loosing him after one year as a B grade coach is no biggy. Not a bad coach but I would say 2 words about him though “loose cannon”
As for Early was he around when Pottsey got the ball rolling down there.
He use to coach A grade for McLaren Flat in the past didn’t he.
Was he a real Morphett Emu or what.
It’s not an AFL position like Harvey going to Freo. for his future career prospects.
It’s local footy hardly a full time job.
I say poor show Early for going to Reynella. If you were a real Morphett supporter and wanted to coach A’s again you’d go to another league.
Sounds like you have a axe to grind, didn’t the past GF wins give you any pleasure or club loyalty?
Good on ya Hilly for letting the Morphett boys know mid year you were finishing up and good on ya for having a go in the GSFL.

By the sounds of it this Lynton Bishop sounds like a similar personality to none other than David Earl,so for me would be a silly appointment if wots been said is true.I think M/Vale should go for someone alot younger with fresh ideas but someone that can be on the same wave length as the players (eg-M.Joraslafsky,who i believe was harshly treated in the finals and should've played in GF).What i will also add is this is taking way too f##n long just to choose a f##n coach,so all you blokes on the panel hurry the f#k up and make a decision its not the f##n AFL.

It appears that Shane Mitchell is coaching Encounter Bay and not the Hawks after all.
