Borgas looks gone. How many more chances does Ferguson need? He's a talented player (remind you of Cosgrove much?) who isn't living up to potential at First-Class level. Sad because they (Cossie and Ferguson) are great players to watch when on song.

Oh dear

Over 56.6: McDonald to O'Brien, no run, OUT, clips to short mid wicket, low catch taken by Rogers and again, SA under the pump with 4 overs to go in this game

Plenty of positives to take out of this game. The bowlers fought back in the second innings and did a great job. 9/100 today. The batting of Klinger on debut was impressive and plenty of guys got starts. Need to start converting those starts though. Younis will be a huge boost and Cossie needs to be playing. He may be fat but he is too talented to be out of the side. He is the most talented of any player in SA and has to be picked. Good to see O'Brien get a few in the second dig as well.

Why does Cosgrove have to come back into the team?

Because he is our best batsman. Yes he's fat and yes he needs to work a bit harder but he is easily the most talented batsman (excluding Younis Khan) in the SA squad.

Wouldn't you like to see him earn his spot, rather than just have it handed to him once again? And he gave up the mantle as best batsman when he stopped making runs.

I reckon the ball that changed Cosgroves career
CAMERON [NSW] gave him a short one that hit Cossie on the elbow region
Cossie from memory batted on
He missed some games with that injury ?
At about that time his career transgressed
Bowlers who used to give him cover driving practice may have noted that and seemingly after that ball, bowlers have bowled at his body a bit more

Just an observation
Agree with both the birds
HAWKY/ROOSTER
He is prob the most talented batsman in the state[I reckon Ferguson]
But as the Hawk said that stopped when he stopped making runs as well

Cossie needs to have a big score in a 2nd XI game to even be considered IMHO. only got a 50 in the 1st dig this week and stuff all in the 2nd when it really counted.

Changes for next game would be Borgas out and Khan in and that's it barring injuries of course

Is there a reason why the Redbacksa didn't actually try to win the game? Surely they could've played it like more of a one-day innings and get 268 off 61 overs?

Just seems like they're happy if they don't lose outright, not really thinking about actually winning matches.

Pag - totally agree with you there. 268 off 61 overs was very gettable for any other team but this is SA and when it comes down to the crunch we don't know how to win. the batters should have been confident after the bowlers did there job but blew it the 2nd over when the first wicket went down.

268 off 61 overs isn't as easy as it sounds. Lets not forget that this chase was to take place on a 4th day pitch (albeit it was still playing pretty well), there are no fielding restrictions in place, there are no power plays, there are no restrictions as to how many overs a bowler can bowl, the bowlers can get away with bowling a lot wider than in one day games. On top of that you have to factor in the fact that the SA batting line up isn't very good. All this makes the 268 to win seem a lot tougher surely.

Too much one day cricket has given people a false idea of what targets and run rates are gettable in the real form of the game. 268 was not impossible but it was always very very unlikely.

All fair points Rod, but at the same time, you don't got too many more "gettable" last innings totals to chase when you've been unable to bowl teams out twice ... I'm inclined to think they should have gone after it, but then I'd imagine they did and it was only the loss of early wickets that forced them to put up the shutters.
