But there are some players who played juniors and senior colts in the last few years who i thought should have gone on to play senior football at your club but have left for what ever reason... and I dont believe it was because of their junior coaching, more so than how they were used or underused during their next senior years.

From what i have seen, the juniors that have come up in the last couple of seasons that are keen to play seniors, do a full pre-season and have a fair crack at it. :D
But, there is also the few that come up in the last couple of seasons, that have major tickets on themselves, don't do a pre-season, rock up to training when they feel like it, don't go to any preso nights, get the shits when they are not selected and they give up. Gee, i wonder why they are'nt given a go  !!!
Are you one of these players PR, if so, do something about it and have a crack instead of coming on here and having a cry. You might be surprised in how much time senior coaches have for juniors that are willing to train and do the hard things, instead of just rocking up and expecting to just walk into a team. 8)

Hey KK, Im not one of the players. I just think some 18 and 19 YO kids take a few extra years to develop into consistent A grade footballers and during that time they need to be provided with achievable goals and given regular feedback on how they are going. Perhaps we should rename the B grade to A2 or reserves or Mclaren Development Squad to take away the stigma of B grade footballers. 8)

Hey Postman i dont think you know what your on about. Steve left Morphies cos he thought it was his time to go, another of his reasons was his son that plays A grade (not sure of his name). In the previous years his son has achieved some pretty high things in the Southern league ie. association teams, and he has always felt as though he got those honours because his dad was involved. Steve does not want to continue coaching his son, he wants his son to play on his own so he can really experience the joy of his success and not feel as though its because of his dad.

hey Mr Teach
There must be something going on at Morphies cos they lost another of their coaching staff to Reynella

I'm not saying there was anyone in particular from last year who had "tickets" on themselves.
If you have been playing football for a while you do see the ones who put the effort in and the ones who just coast along doing the minimum to get a game

Just want to mention this again as it's tomorrow and all

O:)

Just letting fellow McLaren people know (Who may not already know) that there is a 'meet the coaches' night on at the club tomorrow Thursday 16th of October at 6-30pm - sausage sizzle. A grade, B Grade, Senior Colts/parents invited to attend.

Please pass the word around to fellow players.

Thankyou
A Mum O:)

A mum your son definately wasn't one of them. I think he is a great lad, i was pretty dissapointed when he stepped down last season. But when you explained the situation i can see why. definately looking forward to his return. I remember when we played EB a couple of years ago and i think it was his first A grade game. I think he got a quarter and nearly won us the game, dominated that quarter, very hard and under player. He's very respected by all the boys. Has he said much about the way the seniors welcome juniors stepping up to seniors?

I can't name anyone from last season who had tickets on themselves, but a few prior to that definately thought they were better than they are. I am not going to name any names, cause it is not approprate to, most of the senior blokes know what i am talking about.

Thanks KK O:)

Yes I remember that game well too, he did play well and loved it.... but I remember it for other reasons too..... we ended up in Noarlunga hospital because someone 3 times bigger than he (Which wasn't hard at that stage ) had landed straight on top of his chest and he was having trouble breathing !!!

He hasn't really said much about the juniors stepping up to be seniors.... I think he was so busy at the time that we never actually really talked about it. I do know that he is really excited with having kids like Evan Williams coming up and (Hopefully) playing alongside each other again

O:)

I think there will be no shortage of feedback next season PR, Steve is a great communicator. :D
On your opinion for the B grade, there is nothing wrong with playing in the B grade to develope your game into a senior one. The bodies are just as big, the pace or skill is not up there with the A grade but if you're good enough you will quickly develope the skills needed to be a good A grader(e.g. reading the play, and looking after yourself, being able to see oncoming situations). All good A graders have started or played B grade before theren is no shame in that. If you think you are better than that then you should have no problems getting B.O.G every week and then getting promoted!!

too right kk a mums young lad definitely wasn't one of them i actually think the boys who come last year were all pretty good obviously some couldn't train all the time but neither could i, work, family, etc and hopefully he does play again next year cos he is a good player, but definitely kk i know what you and eagles 23 are talking about there have been some who dont want to train 3 or 4 weeks before they get a game, and when you have good numbers at the start of the season you have to reward the blokes who have done a pre season

it doesn't matter what you call it, it is what it is, but coming out of juniors to seniors is hard the training is harder, the footy is harder, getting a game is harder, you have work, can get on the piss(legally), can go to night clubs etc, to play A grade footy is hard its not just a right of passage because you were a good junior, i agree some kids do take longer to develop but they also need to do the work on and off the track to warrant getting a game if they do the work they will be rewarded.

Ithink Hilly will certainly have a few clubs ring him and i hope he coaches again.Great coach and good bloke. He is a genuine CLUB COACH in that he works hard on the juniors and their developement as well as the seniors.Has been coaching along time and has been successful at other clubs as well as the Emus so his experience will be valuable at another club.Would not be surprised to see him in the GSFL as A grade coach at a club down there.

Tatts, you obviously no Dale Wilson pretty well, what will Dale possibly get out of coaching Mclaren's Bgrade. The standard of footy in the GSFL B-grade comp is extremely poor and i would almost go as far as saying it would be only on even par with the SFL C grade comp.Dale is a very good coach so tell me why the hell would'nt he have at least gone for an A grade position some where. The next thing i do not understand Dale done nothing but back stab Steve Hill all this season just gone and now he has gone and followed him?
I think all that medication Dale is on is slowly taking its toll.
