1/79 now.

Keep going boys, we could have first innings points wrapped up by tea on Day 4.

Oh definitely, I would take that for sure! A collapse is only around the corner though... 1fer at stumps though would be brilliant.

Remember this innings from last years Chairmans 11

Muralitharan (4-121 in 44 teasing overs) was clearly the best of the Sri Lankan bowlers whose efforts were blunted by a stodgy performance from local Tom Plant (124 in 382 minutes, 323 balls), who patiently reached three figures without ever looking comfortable.

Yes I'm a Tommy fan but at least he values his wicket....

Mal might say watching him bat is like making love to Julia Guillard for two weeks.....

Oops.

Anyway good knock by James Smith!

The score that ME posted is the score at stumps, not a bad start to the innings.

Well no outright possible for SA so may as well concentrate on batting for as long as possible. Get some centre wicket practice. Might be dull but better than losing outright. Having said that it's odds on their will be a collapse :(

Why wouldnt they declare behind the Vics and get them to set us a total on the last day, if the track is such a road then surely chasing for full points on the last day would be the smart tactic from here?

That's very optimistic to think we could win it that way.

What are the chances of the Redbacks chasing down a total? The best option is just to fight it out for a draw, because at the moment that is the most likely result.

That is the only way to go for an outright win; I'm saying that it's optimistic that you think the Redbacks could do it.

I would probably agree there - if we had Lehmann, Nobes, Siddons, Hookes in our batting line up we could chase 350 on the last day, but not the current batsmen in our ranks.

If they were all on song, they would have done it in 40 overs. ;)
