Bassani is the non-playing coach I was talking about. The sticking point seems to be getting Bassani to stop playing.

cuzzy wrote:bays best and fairest is this sat night, think you will find O. Love stiches it up, hope not though would love to see S Baggs win it. He's had a great year, and not only played well himself but led the team very well also.

To tell the truth i havent heard much about the coaches at the bay, heard Bassani is still in the loop and returns this week for presentation night so will find out more then. I know bays advertised in the paper and got a load of applicants and have come up with a shortlist of 3 or 4 i think. Should find out soon though, Mclean would be handy to get back, if he came back think you would find jagognik, rolf, modra, smart (maybe but possibly going to live in keith) Hoffy (maybe) jeeze the list goes on. Bring on Mclean, but to tell you the truth i am not sure who the other candidate are, 1 is Bassani

Sorry to disappoint Cuzzy but I think you'll find that Jagodnik will be taking a year off from footy. If not will be back at the Bluds!
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

Yep Cuzzy, i think you'll find P32 is right about Jagodnik. Also your going to be a lot more disappointed - Rolfe - Canada, Smart - Keith,Modra - Retirement, Hough - retirement, maybe a chance with McLean but probably only if coaching - but have heard he is staying with Macca.

Surely this is a different shane mitchell to who was coaching hackham earlier this season, and i also heard from a victor harbour comitee person that a bloke by the name luke ellis from glenelg has the victor position.

I heard from a pretty good source he has the Victor Job and that was as of a week and a half ago. That source heard directly from the horses mouth, if it were untrue i'd be surprised, but hey there has been no formal announcment as of this point....

Haha, great start to the day thanks for that KK. As a junior Brett Smith was certainly the best player i played against whilst in under 14s and 16s! Good to see that hes back playing good football again and getting some recognition for it.

KK, in your mind what do Mclarens need to do to get off the bottom rungs of the ladder? After 2003 things havent worked out and with the new coaching appointments (Hill and Hart, who has some connections about the place and is sure to bring some good players with him) surely theres an air of excitement about the place. The past 2 years have seen new coaches aswell so theres some other issues that need addressing.

A number of things need to be done BJ!
The most important thing that needs to be done is get everyone's head switched on at the start of the season. Need alot of players that have been around the traps for a while to commit to a full season of hard footy. Starts with a solid pre-season, which i know is a bit hard sometimes with Vintage, but if your keen then you will do the work yourself. We have always had some great talent, but the lack of enthusiasm and the willingness to do the hard things to win you games has lacked in the last few seasons. Too many takuing the easy way out  ! I'm absolutly positive Hilly will rub this attitude out and with a few recruits(eg Ruckman, goalkicking on-ballers), plus the young fellas coming up from the colts, i'm sure things will turn around! :D
They really need to work hard to get Henno to play another season aswell, it will be really hard if to replace him if he doesn't hang around. Plus, love to see big Broughts fire up and do a big preseason!

i agree kk definitely need a tough pre season, but i think the old vintage excuse is getting a bit lame there are probably only 4 or 5 a graders who are affected , im sure willunga would have the same problem but dont use it as an excuse like we continually do [-X , we also need a better structure and game plan to get the best out of what we have, a few blokes at our club could have a good look at moll, who did not miss a training for the hole pre season and he is geriatric, but also going back to 2003 bj we were not the best side through out the year just when it mattered the most,oh and also thanks to weather down at compass and you guys dropping dc and sarge to the 2's  , made all the difference. as a club we need to stop accepting mediocrity, aim higher if we dont succeed at least we know we had a genuine crack

Your "pretty good" source was not too good this time mate, after a phone call to a member of the selection panel at Victor they informed me that he has applied but has not been selected and prob would not be selected for the job.

Long time ago now hftb, in the 2003 finals we beat mclarens in week 1, strath beat us in week 2, you beat us in week 3 then you beat strath in the GF so that finals series was wide open and to be honest has been the catalyst for the past 5 years success so if anything we thank you for that day however much it hurt at the time.

Some work to do down the road but steps in the right direction are happening and i reckon Mclarens will rise up the ladder next season!

Jelom Sydney was fantastic! Micky was in good form, struggling to get the words out and getting a little tired but still dominated the packs and had his shorts up as high as he could get them!

BJ, Well done on your GF win.
Can you shed any light on the movement of Gary Summerton back to Reynella as seniour coach?

You should know Jelom. I'm pretty sure I saw you riding your scooter down Oxford Street naked apart from a flowing silver cape Priscilla Queen of the desert style.

Sorry shoe boy ive only heard what u have! If there is to be an announcement to the players i assume it would be Saturday night at our Best and Fairest count.

If Garry does get the job there I'd wish him the best of luck. Hes been the assistant at Willunga for 6 years and has been successful so u cant hold it against him for pursuing his options and trying to get himself an A grade gig.

Jelom's scooter would have only had one wheel and no seat during his stroll down Oxford Street.
