It's a toss up for which one I'd prefer him to stop.

It seems that clubs in the Barossa are keen on recycling coaches from other teams within the league or ex SANFL players. They need to open up there thinking a little to get the best bloke for the job. You would think Carey Payne would be a real shot at any job he applied for in this league....

What's that meant to mean? Has he been knocked back? Are you two going as a package?

It means I think his performance was outstanding this year to get a club like Eastern Park into a GF and up to Div 2. I think he would be silly not to consider his options elsewhere and that clubs would be silly not to sign him up. In truth if he got a job elsewhere I will be going with him.....has the respect of a lot of quality players.

the big fella wrote:can anyone from Angaston Fc evaluate S Johnsons performance..big writeup in hills paper of how well he did up there!!

I would have given him a 6 out of 10 which was basically the same as the other coaches in the 08 season. Prousey because of circumstances perhaps 6.5 out of 10 and Scott Lee perhaps same because of the skill level he got out of a average group of players. Leal probably unfair to evaluate but looked at home as non playing rep coach. Herzick and Wilson at 5.5 because they should have got better results. Not necessarily all their fault however one of the coach's roles is to pick up on under achieving. I listened to every coach this year at the breaks looking for following; method of delivery, what they said, what they meant and any indicators of player response. The paradox of coaching of course is that if Johnno and Lubke had swapped squads they would probably have done worse than the other although Tanunda would have still won the flag, perhaps not undefeated. It illustrates how success is the whole thing: coach, the squad, injury run, committee and support group plus how they all interact. If you wrote what they said on a piece of paper without any indentification you would have trouble working out which is which as they basically all say the same thing. Unseen preparations are a secret ingredient also.
Johnno took awhile adjusting to the idiosyncracies of the BLG but his enthusiasm and full on approach certainly rubbed off on the playing group and training numbers were the best for quite a few years. He left the playing group in a better position than it was when he came. Would have been interesting to see what he did next season but has decided on another course for 09 and beyond. If nothing else he will bring a bit of excitement to Macclesfield. Hopefully they aren't too conservative and can use his energy in a positive fashion. Can sometimes be too complicated with his matchups and tactics. Feeds off all info sources, which is both good and bad. Prepared to back himself and the players.

NB - have never given a 0 or a 10 out of 10.
- Prouse at Freeling, Stafford at Nuri. Two strong words as we speak.

Some good points raised Sunbowler. You are on the $ with Prouse has a meeting with Freeling tonight. I would be interested if you made comment on all the BLG coaches since you posted you have listened to all over the season.

Any old Panthers want to comment on what to expect with Seelander.

I personally think it would be a foolish move for Nuri to appoint Stafford for a second stint. He has credentials, yes, however people need to realise the squad he had back in the nineties when they won five in a row would have rivalled the lesser SANFL teams - Westlake, Gerhardy in his prime, Rosenzweig, Snowden Brothers, Feltus, the list goes on...

There are also whispers that the Stelzers are cold calling some of the top BLG players to join them at Renmark for some serious coin... very interesting...

So are the rumours concerning Carey Payne infactual?? has he been sacked from Eastern Park?

Steltzers and Gibson were already mentioned as leaving...

Who else have they called..? And how much coin is serious??

Heard Prouse definatley at Freeling next year.

Nuri could make a mistake a lot of clubs do... try to bring back past success with out of date players/coaches, or it could be a master-stroke, only time will tell if they take that path!
