the poll already has goody saints favorites, wow, wasnt there talk of people retiring and they were too old and fossils? can they do it again - 5 in a row??

If they did, it should gain them the 10th spot in the SANFL.

What might those circumstances be? Any ideas.

crystal ball says.......goodys kick a goal with 30 secs to go to hit the lead by 5pts....then ttg bring the ball down, goes right to the line and chambers picks it up as the siren goes ,kicks a goal after the siren....but umps didnt hear it...gulleys by a point. 8) (this may or may not happen  )

What an imagination you have got GTB, some would say it's quite strange.

yeah, im bored, but i get alot of the bs from my kids, who are learning quickly

There was a rule passed some years ago (not certain if it still exists) that you could choose to stay down for one year. It was back in the mid 90's so may not still exist. Saying that SHOC will go up it will probably help them keep even more of their old scholars.

To the best of my memory it was put forward by an Old Collegiate side around the time the comp was split in to P1 to P3 and A1 down or when it got reversed. The theory was that if they felt they were not ready or couldn't compete or were lucky to make a GF (e.g. from 5th) they could choose to stay down if the ninth side were willing to stay up. As far as I know it has never been used though it was rumoured years ago a couple of sides explored it.

how could you be considered "unlucky" to make a GF from 5th?
No wonder they got the "soft" tag...

Well some clubs simply do not have the resources to even be competitive when they go up. This then has a flow on effect as players leave, those who stay cop a hiding every week and leave the year after. This is how sides down several divs.... Not to mention they struggle even further for cash when sponsors aren't interested in a side getting pumped every week and supporters abandon the club and spend no money there cos they dont like watching their side get pumped every week....sad but true
Harsh but fair.....

A few years ago (maybe late 90's/2000) Modbury "requested", due to an unenviable financial position to drop from Div 2 to Div 5. Forgive me Hawk supporters if the finer details are wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me but in hindsight it has proven to be a masterstroke from Mr Jolly snr and co in their survival and re-emergence as a strong club in SAAFL so it's not always B & W in going up from a club point of view.

It has proved a master stroke Rotter.... last time we went to Div 1 the club almost went bankrupt (so ive heard) a few older members of the club were sceptical of the club wanting to move back up to the big show because they can remember their club struggling for a few years. Stuey Jolly and Matt Jolly are the heart and sole of the Modbury Football Club. In recent years they have run the place with mininal support. Matt has got the onfield structure set and the current group of players has come through the grades together Stuey has run the off field like no one else could and for 2009 alot of the players and club members are getting behind these 2 blokes and assisting with sponsorship etc to ensure a favourable result next season.
