Thanks for that info on marion odb. That is really disappointing to hear. It seems from what you've said and from a few other people around the traps the club is not being run to a standard that it should and needs to be. You make a good point in regard to having depth at a club. All clubs obviously need gun players but if a club is not looking after the loyal club people (who arent there just for the $$$$$) then I guess these sorts of things will eventually bring a club down. Maybe the people who are running the club should take a good hard look at themselves, realise that they are a major part of marions recent downfall and step aside. You dont hear of anything like this going on at clubs like Reynella, Morphett Vale & Happy Valley which shows by their strong performances on the field.

Read in the Sunday Mail yesterday an Ad from the SFL after expressions of interest for clubs to join the league for the 2007 season with a note at the bottom stating the less travel the better.

Can someone explain what that was all about or is it something they do every year?

Is the league looking to cull a few sides due to the current un evenness of the competiton?

Can someone post an updated ladder.

Watched Morphy Park on Saturday
1. They are not as bad as the scores indicate
2 there structure is pretty good
3 They are let down with lack of discipline
4 They have a very tall side with Coudraye a stand out if he realised his potential.
5 I beleive they may upset a few sides if they are switched on

What a cracker we have this weekend.....With all the talk ofthe un eveness of the comp etc why don't we all go tho the Cove Oval and watch the undefeated top side take on the 2nd side on the ladder.....I reckon it could be areal cracker.....What are our thoughts on the outcome Cove V Brighton.....?????

Lets chat about this game as it is on paper and form the best game of the year so far......?

My tip at home Cove ........ forward line to strong with plenty of opportunities toi be provided through there fast midfield and some players to choose from to take on and keep quiet Draper......

I think Coudraye is a bit overated. He should already know is potential seeing he has played league with Port Magpies and was also on the powers rookie list. He should be dominating. I guess it is hard if the side is not going to well. Who would they seriously cause an upset to? Brighton, Morphett Vale, Cove, Happy Valley, Pt Noarlunga, Noarlunga, Reynella............not a chance!!!!!

There's a big article in the Southern Messenger which we got yesterday, basically the SFL is keen to stop the one sided results and are trying to get enough teams to make 2 10 team divs.

Don't suppose that this is an admission from the SFL that they got it wrong by going to a 1 division comp?

Saw the game but didn't see the aftermath. I was told yesterday (by someone from CFC ) what happened and if that is correct it is very disappointing for the club who'd gone to a fair bit of effort to make the day special. As usual a couple of peanuts can ruin a lot of work.

it was reported in the paper yesterday that after the game four people jumper Draper and scheeinbi... something or other with the end result Draper needing eye surgery at hospital to remove a piece of glass and will require further surgery later in the week. The other bloke copped cuts to his face but didn't require surgery. Happened well after the game outside, other that that i don't know any thing else than what was reported in the paper.

Action must be taken as things like this just can't happen and i assume the league wouln't want its reputation tarnished further.

VV,

Reynella defeated hackham
morphies beat
Noarlunga defeated aldinga
porties defeated flaggies
cove defeated brighton
christies beat morphie parks
that what i can remember off the top of my head!

What could the SFL do in relation to the matter????????? And from what ive heard whats been writen in the paper isn't correct anyway.......I don't see what the SFL could do?

It was a physical and tough game.......Probably played really in 2 halves........Brighton got the jump on Cove and led through the 2nd qtr by as many as 4 goals.......Many thought Cove were gone however they lifted through some of there stars....Gill, Vick, Ramsey and a big ruckman unsure of his name and they dragged there side back to within 4 pts at half time. Then Cove exploded and went on to score 10 goals to Brighton's 1 after half time.....When Cove go they are very very good......

What a duel now at Morphett Vale sat.......The current kings V the newcomers and prob favourites for there crown........What do we think? I reckon Morphett Vale....... Cove had a real slog and a big day Sat and maybe Morphett can get them when they could be a bit flat and have a bit of a let down!

If the perpertrators are involved with the club the club should be penalised- thats what the SFL should do. Fine them or dock points- whatever it takes.

I know Cove have worked really hard to improve their image but this sort of thing harks back to their ultra feral days where pit bulls were lined up around the oval.....

The blokes that were assaulted had parked their cars behind the far end goals in the 'paddock' area despite Cove sending a request to the clubs that they don't park there. Whether or not this was passed on to individuals who knows.
I have to agree with jono here mattee as there is not much the SFL or the club could do in this situation so to suggest that they be fined or have their points docked is a bit harsh. That area is quite a distance from the clubrooms and is not illuminated and I suspect noone would have known anything was going on there. A fair price for a couple of blokes to pay for avoiding the admission fee and parking in the carpark.

Your assessment of the game itself is pretty spot on jono. The big ruckmans name is Padroth - a huge unit - and it will be interesting to see how he goes against Short. If you saw Morphettvale against the Valley recently, as I assume you did, you could wager some reddies on Cove with a bit of confidence.

Yeah i did see Morphett and Valley and understand what ya saying virgin but just seeing that Cove V Brighton game and all the stuff that has been going on there this week I feel that Morphett Vlae could catch Cove on a day where they could be a bit flat...........However, Morphett Vale need them to be a bit flat to win because Cove's leg speed if there switched on and are ready is devastating and would be to much for Morphies to handle......

I think Cove will struggle tho, a huge match last week a big week for them with the 'incident' i feel that maybe there run will come to an end......10 - 0 is very well done though!!!!!!! If Cove can get over the line an undefeated MINOR round season is very much on the cards for them with there run home!! Wonder if they'd want that????

VV I know the area you are talking about and yes that is a fair way from the clubrooms.

By reading the initial report it sounded as though they were assaulted as they left the clubrooms. If they'd parked at Hallett Cove Train station would it still be viewed as 'leaving the clubrooms'?

Agreed- a hefty price to pay for not paying the ($4?) entry fee... Does Sneeza have an official role at Brighton?

Still stand by my point if the perpertrators are proved to be from a certain club though..

It is a great effort but as you infer teams do not keep winning indefinately. There was a lot of 'running forward' in the second half last week once they got a break on the Bombers which the coach would be concerned about but you can't do anymore than win can you.
I don't know if the players would be affected by the aftermatch incident but I also agree there is a danger of a letdown after the buildup to last weeks game. They won't out-body the emu's but they can certainly out run them as you say. Time will tell.
