United have Pantelis missing as well. Hope they have the fitness to get through.
Also can anybody enlighten me to how the prize money structure works? any cash for making the semis and does United get to keep it all if they get any?
Wikipedia has nothing about prizemoney for quarter or semi finalists, but finalists as follows:
Prize money
For the 2004-2008 edition the money is distributed as follows. From 2009 season, the prize money will increase significantly, as several reports indicate that the champion may receive up to $5 million.
Final position Money awarded to club
1 $600,000
2 $400,000
Note: The champion also receive at least $1 million at the FIFA Club World Cup.
I hope the Reds do get something for making it this far though, and surely we don't have to share it with the other clubs!!!! That would be so wrong. Can you imagine Manchester United sharing last year's prizemoney with fellow finalists Chelsea? Sir Alex saying, "Aww OK, we'll go halves wit' ya"? I don't think so!
Hopefully we get through tonight! The last couple of results in the A-League haven't been very encouraging, but we've shown previously that we can put that behind us and focus on the job at hand. As previously mentioned, the side will change significantly from Sat'dy night's, so we can look forward to a good performance. I'll be there in full voice anyway! Can't wait. I for one hope that Agostino goes someway towards silencing his knockers with a good game. When fit he is so good for our side the way he holds the ball up and brings the others into it, Viduka like. The more he and Cristiano can play together the better off we'll be. Obviously he hasn't been fit often enough over the time he's been here, but the man is a God at his previous German club.
GO YOU REDS!!!!!!!
