Well done on the photos A MUM

A lot of sunburn after Saturday.
Only one decent game and that was the U/17's
Congratulations to both teams in that grade.

Well done to the winners.
Willunga A's... Too Good. Great game by Plugger and the man in size 46 Shorts Mitch Portlock
Willunga Magoos Outstanding effort to turn around the Qualifying Final result.
Strath 17's..gutzed it out
McLaren 14's Too big and strong.

Compass Catering....Poor effort.
I am still hungry.
Saw Kenny dropping off a porta loo and a plumber fixing the 1inch pipe
which just could not take a 2 inch turd.

Sounds as if there will be a contest for the GSFL Presidency.

I understand that Tonkin from the Creek has thrown his hat in the ring and will be challenging Hermann Lucas for the president's position.
Nifty Nev also under the pump. There has been a fair bit of lobbying of clubs, to muster support for each candidate.

Further info just to hand...Tonkin to go for president with someone from Strath as a running mate.
Hope Jelom 19 is not from Strath....

Thanks Mr Magoo...

does anyone else think the vale kids having their shirts already printed for them is a touch arrogant?? i no that was the talk around my area!! and mayb counting their chickens b4 they hatch?? U/17 prime example!!

maybe instead of using money to print all those shirts they do something about the rabble that have become their senior sides....

Are you kidding me !! Arrogant !!

Jimmy Recard... the kids of our game are the future of our clubs... and if having a tee shirt printed and ready for them to take pride in wearing after the game and feeling so excited about being able to wear one, and making them feel as if they are the most important people in the club... then that's what we'll do !! After all, grandfinals don't come around every day of the week !!

Some kids, so proud of their tee shirts don't even want to take them off. It's part of the excitement of the whole day and I for one think it's a great idea to have them ready. Unlike senior teams they are unable to go out and 'paint the town red' etc, etc, etc.... and in the case of the 17's... not used this year.... but can be used anytime in the next 100 years.

BTW...our senior sides are not rabble..... all clubs have their high's and low's..... good years, bad years.

and...Talk around your area....jelous perhaps

Agree with Jimmy. it is a great achivement to win a flag at any level and the kids should be proud, but maybe keep the t-shirts aside for the presentation dinner.

nah trust me no jealousy... cant be disappointed with my club's efforts on GF day!! 2 out of 3 aint bad!!!
im just saying was was said around the hill... but we dont like mclaren neways!!

vale love pumping up their kids!!! and then where do they go??? there were heaps of "young" lads (23/U) playing senior footy this year and for the last few years, and they've shown nothing... would of thort the club would want to see something out of them 2 inspire confidence into the next era!!

a club isnt measured on ur kids!! their measured on ur senior sides!! and thats just the way it is!! im saying maybe if mclaren place more emphasis on their senior sides, their kids will become better senior footballers!! ive heard ppl from ur own club say it aswell... im just not sure of the culture down at mclaren!!!

I value your opinions LF... I suppose we will just have to agree to disagree on the whole tee shirt thing and at the end of the day clubs will do what they feel best for their own clubs.... and we really do want our juniors to know how important they are and how proud of their achievement we were.... and IMO being given the tee shirt straight after the win did add to their 'proudness' and excitement.... they were absolutely stoked when we handed them the tee shirts.

Oh well it's over and done with now and we will probably continue to do the same thing in the future.

t-shirts after a victory is an "American" thing anyway its something you'd expect to see at the Superbowl. Every club in the GSFL needs some form of improvement (us more than most) but mcLarens definately need to start converting dominant junior performances in to senior success.

Okay, well you're obviously from Willunga....

When you say "We dont like mclaren neways"... I have heaps of friends who are involved with Willunga, play at Willunga... there's not that much angst between these sides as much as there used to be in the past.... but of course there's always going to be 'rilvalry'... but "Don't like" ... I think there is respect on both parts.

What an interesting thing to say.... I'm sure that even your own club wouldn't agree with that statement.... as your club is one of the best in the league for treatment of thier juniors

A club may not be measured by its kids but eventually those kids do become seniors.... and you may find that there has actually been too much emphasis on the senior sides and not the juniors.... how can placing more emphasis on the senior sides make the juniors better footballers.... so less emphasis on the juniors so they don't feel like part of the club.. sounds like a plan :?

Sometimes you have to build from the bottom up... let's have this same conversation in 5 years time shall we O:)

We know that LF and we're working on it... on and off the field.

Contrary to everyone's beliefs we do have some excellent A graders at our club... and some of these boys are starting to build 'relationships' with our younger boys... I think you'll find more staying around and with the great players already up there and the juniors that will be coming through in the next few years... it is quite exciting for our club.

As I said... let's have this conversation in 5 years time.

Speaking of the improvement required at Goolwa LF, I'll be watching your personal journey with great interest. The whole squad needs to take responsiblilty for being the best they can be an it's time you set your goals now. I'm thinking if we can get you down to 92kg and running a km in sub 3 minutes by Christmas we'll on on the right track. We'll work on your skills in the new year. I just know there's a Buddy Franklin inside you LF and his emergence will be the story of '09. Keep me posted!

He would just be a light snack for me. in regrads to Buddy Franklin please refer to round 12 v Myponga. And your spot on about the squad taking responsibility, we need to pull our fingers out and have a decent crack at it rather than hoping it will just happen.
