The SANFL was $10 on the weekend for 2 quality games + $4 for a buget that was glossy, colourful and useful. The thing I look at this year is how many people have been watching finals from the clubs not heavily involved. I personally have not seen anyone from Yank, VH, Myponga or the Bays and I know that Saints people (apart from the juniors and the match we hosted) have nt been making the effort to go.

Good points there LF O:)

I have paid out heaps of money the last couple of weeks to the GSFL with 14's and 17's and B's playing on Saturdays and Sundays, so I can understand that if your own teams aren't in then you're probably unlikely to go.

So in summary you're saying that we probably will be able to get a park :D

Also do Victor have a big anniversary in 2010? 125 years? Plenty of $$$'s going around for a premiership in 2010 from what i understand.

tips for the weekend
A grade Willunga 27pts
B Grade Strath 42pts
17s Mclaren 9pts
14s Mclaren 28pts

good luck to the mclaren boys and maybe if the 17s win there might be a few apologies about the junior coach of the year, a premiership from 5th wouldn't be a bad effort, come on gianni and his boys. The 14s deserve it but that doesn't always mean you win it but i think brad and the kids will be fine.
Also BJ if you blokes are winning too easily can you tank for a quarter so we the watching public aren't bored :)
Just wondering do the players get passes to get in for free on gf day, if not they should!

To be honest, i dont think the admission price be it $7.00, $5.00 or FREE would make any difference to the finals crowds at all. Simply put, if people are interested, they WILL go otherwise they will NOT.
Also unless your team is competing, why would you want to go? I think that 99% of supporters whose club ISN'T involved on GF day couldn't give a rats toss bag about who wins.
PS. And Having Grand Finals at Mt Compass certainly wouldn't help enticing neutral supporters along either.

damian wrote:What do your respective clubs do for your B & F counts? do you include finals games or not? Obviously league medals don't as not all teams play in finals.

Mclarens preso night is an Saturday night after GF. I think there will be a few very loud people there after a day on the gas watching our Colts teams. Obviously it was planned for this date knowing the A's were'nt playing finals. Would of been interesting if the B's found a bit of form and made it through to the big day  !!
As for the count, in previos years when we have played finals, there is no votes. But the club does hand out a medal for Player of the finals, Be it A's or B's.

The big day draws closer
Pa Kappars...Need a weather update daily mate!!!
Last nights weather forecast for Saturday was for strong winds and showers.19 degreeeees

If the winds are northerlies the grandstand will get very wet.

However what happens out on the ground will be the main concern.
Will even things up so there will be 4 very close games.

Ok here we go lets hope these conditions dont get any worse, please remember we are going to Mount Compass so the weather could infact be worse than this map would suggest. Does anyone on here no much about the way the earths water table works? I am being told that compass oval could be very soft under foot and even worse with the lightest bit of rain due to the water table in that region being full so the ground will not absorb the water. By the A grade the ground could infact be very muddy!

Kappars
Add this to your Almanac

The water table should not be a problem as it is a Mountain.
The flats of Aldinga and between Willunga and McLaren Vale may have the problem.

AT COMPASS THE CONCERN IS THAT THE GROUND BECOMES SATURATED AND CANNOT ABSORB ANY MORE WATER.
(like a sponge or face washer that is full of water....add more water it then runs off or just sits there)
Thats as much as i know

I am very concerned. Looks like the swell is picking up over the course of Saturday. By the time the A Grade hits should be pretty big. Which team will handle the swell better Kappars?

I've been keeping an eye on the Mt Compass weather situation and it's not good :(

Hopefully they are wrong or will change it before Saturday !!

In regards to what you have heard Jelly Head, you could not be further from the truth with compass, considering Sammuals signed a new 2 year contract a week prior to the finals! The man currently in charge has turned the club around, probably the best couch they have had at the helm in 20 years. Why would they look elsewhere?
I will also mention 11 of the starters are under 21 years of age, all now with invaluable finals experience.
The future for compass looks bright, even if the weather doesn't!
