Yeah, it was a little uncomfortable presenting that given the winners etc.

This is what I was told, whether it's accurate or not, I'm not sure.
The nominees were ascertained from the best players named each round, which is why it took a while for Ryan Bennett to be nominated (round 10), it took a while before he was named best for Renmark.
So yeah, the best performing player under 21 earned nomination like that.
From that, the nominated players appearing highest in best players each week are given points depending on where they were named in those best players.

I didn't know the winners until Monday.

Surely only scissor, paper, rock could explain the weird outcome.

Have to agree with you there Reflex.
Bennett or Middleton would have been a better pick.
But if that's the way the voting is, there's nothing SS could do about it.

Like I said, that's the way (so I'm informed) the voting just turned out.

Flicking thru the scores for the season, Bennett appeared 10 times, as did Storic, while Harwood had seven, that's without taking into account their position in the best players.

All-Australian honours aside, Storic being under 21 and a Whillas medal justifies one winner, the other I really don't understand what happened.
I had Bennett pencilled in for the Whillas, so yeah, would have thought he wouldn't gave been far off the mark, as with Middleton.

I think Ryan Bennett is the best country footballer in the State, if I was picking it or voting on it, he would have been my choice too.

In saying that, Kirk Harwood is one of the most talented young footballers in the league and I wouldn't say it was undeserved, just (personally) a real surprise.

DK - he's talking about the old prejudices of the SANFL against Port Adelaide. Probably a Crows supporter too.

Good to see the Roo giving the Riverland a pump up in the Advertiser today. His return to the RFL has been brilliant for the area.

You're right on the money there DW... no disrespect to the great man or the Waikerie FC intended... just a tongue in cheek shot at any side donning the black & white.

GO YOU ROVERS - do it for Undie Man who'd love to be out there, may the force be with you!

Good luck to both teams. Having played in two A grade grand finals before this year, I would safely assume there would be many queezy stomachs nearing 24 hours to the first bounce.
Hoo yeah! Finals fever!

Any stories about lads that are really feeling the finals pinch?
