I like the Waters deal idea - it may suit everybody..

Waters has his fair share of off field issues too Psyber ;)

Port would have to throw in a pick to West Coast because Pettigrew is miles behind both Johncock and Waters.

As for Waters, I can't help but get the feeling he's a tad overrated. Tough as nails but his disposal is very ordinary and he has had quite a few injuries already.

Agree on Waters - hard nut, with no skills. We already have one of those...Scott Thomson.

Thompson, well he's a gun but people are going overboard because of one bad game. His last few weeks have been disappointing and I guess bad form came at the wrong time because overall he had a great season.

Sorry mate, our opinions differ. Thomson is an above-average player, not a gun. Actually extremely over-rated, IMO. Very suspect disposal under pressure. He is what REB describes as a 'flat-track bully'.

Thompson sits somewhere in between both your descriptions of him as an above-average player and a gun.

Right now, Thompson is a "quality" midfielder, but needs more consistency to become "high quality" or a gun.

Flat-track bully he is not though, as he has proved his worth in many other tough, crunch games, but unfortunately hasn't shown his true worth in finals.

Do any of them not? Sports jocks have always had that tendency. I guess it is a matter or recruiting those who have some talent and are not unmanageably immature...

Flat track bully? Disagree. Was the Crows best player in last years final against Hawthorn. No one remembers because everyone thinks back to 'that kick' but without him we wouldn't have even stood a chance to be in a winning position. He had 34 possessions, 8 marks and 6 tackles.

Gets plenty of it, i agree. But does FA with it. He is a hard nut, and very much an 'inside' player, but i think he is over-rated - probably by himself more than anyone.

Definitely over-rated by most -he is firmly in the 'B' class of midfielders, which is the best the Crows have right now (if you exclude veterans McLeod and Goodwin).
Thompson works hard, but has faults in quality of disposal, frees against and also getting caught in tackles a little too easily.

Mumbles on AA tonight said he hadnt spoken with Stiffy about these rumours  WTF? arent you his coach? surely you would make a casual phone call to him to see if there is anything in it?

Ordinary poeple skills...

Don't you think the club have been in close contact with Stiffy on a range of issues since mid season and very likely are 5 steps ahead of the speculation?

In other words, I suspect NC and the club are already fully aware of all relevant issues and have progressed discussions beyond what the media are aware of

Therefore, asking him if he has spoken to Johncock about the rumours becomes a stupid question.

No NC said he hadnt spoken to him for 2 days and he hadnt mentioned any of it to him....lets just say there is something in it, wouldnt Stiffy expect some contact from the coach? if not it would make him more dirty and keen to leave...

Yes, if the dots join up as you think they do that's a fair conclusion

But I'm sure there's more happening behind closed doors than we are hearing about publicly.

TBH, I don't know what to make of this issue. The club's official line is at odds with the rumours which just don't seem to be going away no matter how many times the club assures us it's all OK.

He's not a forward for starters, and after his suspension and relegation this year, my tip is that he'll be outta there in 2009. Had a poor second half of season and i believe he lacked committment in his performances.

I reckon Pettigrew goes alright. WC can have Surjan and White. But we'll take Stiffy. I think port will def deal with a Perth club. We have so many WA's. If NC hasnt spoken to Stiffy theres something going on, not great people management. He should be on the phone asking him to stay.

He is not fit and drinks to much. Maybe he might end up playing with Byron?
