i reckon the point system will eventually make some difference to club loyalty and paying players. Correct if i am wrong but with only 14 points allocated to A grade, clubs will be forced to play Juniors and club people who are worth 0 points.
Hopefully you're right Mr T.
I grew up on Kangaroo Island (and it may have changed since) but loyalty was everything over there... so I suppose that has just stuck with me and it does break my heart to see people (especially juniors that have grown up with a club) so readily switch and swap clubs.
I suppose it's a bit different in the GSFL area because these kids although from different clubs go to school together and so I supposed it is an easier transition to go from one club to another because they will always know people at all the clubs.
My own son (Now a senior) is even talking about going to play elsewhere with a bunch of friends... and although I don't want to pressure him in anyway, it has to be his decision, it will break my heart
Sorry if I sound a little melodramatic !!
Don't know.... but anyway... hopefully the points system does make some difference.
Not every club has a Ruckman or CHF so you need to recruit and pay players. The point system will stop alot of average footballers recieving money to play but it will also make the gun players more expensive to recruit. I still believe that the point system should be staggered, example 1st to 3rd recieve 6pts, 4th to 6th recieve 10pts etc etc. Im interested to know what other people think??
The points system does indeed drive player prices up. I think the local player who wants a bit of money can also drive his price up as points now become precious and a 1 point player is as valuable to keep as the big recruit with 3-4 points to his name. This is where clubs recruiting needs to be selective, u dont just get the best available talent, u get what ur club
needs and that may not be the best player, but the best player for your side. As time goes on i feel the points system will work, it will certainly stop sides from buying a flag in 1 year, its becomes a process to recruit the right players over a 2-3 year period to compliment your up and coming juniors.
Interesting to hear that about Deacs. I heard he had arranged a road trip this weekend with a couple of old school friends thats had to be cancelled due to circumstances!
