WHAT the f*** are you on about! YOU are crazy  or you also have your head in the sand like some others posting on here. To put it simple for those whom do simple things well! no matter who is playing, It is about the cash and thats it! If it was to be passed by each club at the start of the year, Then every club would request the GF. If you hire roseworthy for some GFs the club hiring gets to keep the profits! NOT as some one has mentioned "why would you take money away from the clubs" And the person running the show at virginia last year denigrated people at the club so he found it hard to find helpers. ALL HIS OWN DOING. This year will be a hugh improvement form last year.

My god that's hard to read .......... check out the key on the right of the " - it's a carriage return - helps with punctuation and readability.

Correct the finals are set at the beginning of the year WITH NOTHING in place if Mallala are in the GF and the GF is scheduled for Mallala, or other finals for that matter.

Cut the crap about "if your good enough you can win from anywhere" - you give creedence to the BS policy which is used to select the GF venue. While we have to live with the policy for now and there is no other way to think about it if you are not Mallala this year - hopefully it will change.

Don't recall anyone on here saying HB or Lochiel did a bad job! In fact read back a few pages HB was a top day and is a great place to watch footy.

Virginia vs Mallala

Changerooms - equal
Oval - both good - Virginia does not handle the wet too well but "this time of year" it is fine.
Viewing - both the same - Mallala has a grandstand which gets used by kids and maybe 2 others
Costs - same
Food - Virginia any day
Netball - Virginia best in the league
Lines - who cares
Coaches boxes - ditto

Oh one more thing - the league has been operating quite a bit further back than just '06.

Correct - at the moment NO ONE other than Mallala and Balak (and a token United) get the chance to host a GF. Not fair, not equitable, not good enough.

If all you other clubs are happy to be shafted each year then quite honestly you deserve the policy, buying KY is much easier than standing up for yourselves and demanding equity - I for one think the policy is wrong and needs to be changed (you have probably figured that out by now).

as an outsider to this league, why is the GF only given to 2 or 3 clubs [ if i'm reading this right]. surely if the other clubs disagree with this , they should get their reps. on the APFL to alter the arrangement that is in place.

think about this then idiots, all gate money goes to the league, not the clubs,so the more u fit in the easier, and viginias changerooms better, maybe better than ham or tw but not mallala or balak, and netball, since when has country netball been indoors anyhow, plus if maybe vir fielded teams here instead of gawler maybe things may be better for them

It's pretty easy isn't OM? I am getting the feeling that everyone is somehow happy with giving the GF to only 2 and occassional 3rd.

Do you have to drive a car into the ground to pay or something? If so Virginia has 5 acres behind the clubrooms for parking - only area close to it in size is Balaklava showgrounds.

Not better than the 5hit box under the Mallala grandstand - you're joking!

Country netball played indoors at Virginia - retorical question I know CFM but thought I would answer anyway.

went to the GF last year at Balak to watch a relative play in the junior final. $9.00 admission [thank you CMF i now know this goes to the APFL ], the place was packed with teams from all over [footy and netball ]. with the profits made from catering etc the hosting club would gather up a fair 'treasure chest' to go shopping for players.

With that sought of cash from gate takings (1500-2000 paying spectators ) at 9 bucks  close on 20 grand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO! Any sign of improvement? specifically umpires  MAYBE they spend it on GF medallions. 25 medallions per side 100 for the day, OK that makes them worth around 180 bucks a piece. Naaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh $2.50 wholesale and that's with the red black and white ribbon. This an example of dictatorship YOU MUST ABIED OUR(APFL) RULES/LAWS, YOU MUST HAND OVER MONIES FOR NO RETURN, YOU MUST USE BURLY FOOTBALLS, YOU MUST BUY SOCKS SHORTS ETC FORM WHOM WE SAY, YOU MUST PUT UP WITH THE MERCY RULE U17s, WE MUST PUT UP WITH U17s CUT OF 1st JAN WHEN NABOURHING LEAGUES IS 30 JUNE, AND IF YOU SPEAK OUT YOU WILL BE PURSICUTED. And the the people whom pull the strings get to host the GFs. Sound very much like a dictatorship to me!

changerooms - home (mallala better), away (equal)

oval - mallala = superb, virginia = not so good
always a chance of rain this time of year, just look at sunday!

viewing - equal

food - yes the bbq food is great, but virginia have the smallest canteen in the league.
so i would actually have them as equal

netball - have you asked any netballers? think you may find that many DO NOT like the indoor courts.
and remember that at most times there are two netball games on at once!

hamleys oval did look good. but has anyone talked to any of the players?
have had a few complain how hard the oval was - especially in patches where no grass
look at how many players were injured in as and bs with ankles, knees etc.

It happens at all levels - don't quote the AFL - how many articles would you like me to point you at about the inequalities of finals? Who's playing Port Adelaide this week? Let's move that game to Alberton!! Sure all finals games for Centrals at Elizabeth - yep great for the game at Alberton or Elizabeth but stuff the side having to play there.

Cut the crap about - "if we are good enough we will beat them at home" - shouldn't have to be the case and time for the APFL to fix it and put some fairness into the league.

Yeah OK Jumbo you can have this one, Im sick of typing! See ya at Mallala for beer.

Mail medal predictions?

J Southern, Bradley Shimmin to tie

If I can weigh into the debate re: Grand Final locations. Personally I think its a great idea having the GF at the best grounds. If the League thinks that is just Mallala & Balak with the occasional one at Long Plains then thats fine with me. Im not sure if some of the other clubs have the capabilities to do it well. Like Maxxy Smart said they way undercatered at Hamley and struggled to get helpers and this was only a semi final. What hope have they got for a GF. Jumbo, you seem very passionate about this but unlike the mercy rule, you seem to be flogging a dead horse. Like someone said a couple of pages back, AFL have theirs at MCG (best ground), SANFL have theirs at Footy Park (best ground) because they realise its a showcase for the competition and attracts it to people who may otherwise not be interested. No different with our league, have the GF at the best grounds to showcase our great league off to people who wouldn't normally attend. Makes perfect sense to me.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Swampie, there's no way United are the team to beat. Mallala holds that mantle well and truly!!

particularly at home!!

Don't agree DB - why are they the ideal place? They may be IF profits are shared - at the moment they are not.

Mallala's visitor changerooms are a disgrace for a GF venue. That alone ranks them behind Balak & Longies!! So in that case it may as well be shared by all clubs. On your side Jumbo with this one. Don't think many grounds are quite up to it but as you've mentioned, it may go a long way to those clubs improving there facilities.

Congrats to the Hamley B grade's come from behind win at Lochiel. Listned to supercoach Space at a few huddles. Very much a motivating coach there.
Certainly not a Hamley fan (especially after how cocky they all were a few years back before they ran out of money) but must say i would like to see there B's go all the way this year. Correct me if i'm wrong but it doesn't look to me like they have stacked but are just a group of genuine good b-graders.

gee i think ryan montgomerie has been shafted by the umpires... been consistantly in the best players for the maggies through out the season.. sayin that john southern has been outstanding and whitty, like always is tough every week.. the libba of the apfl.. :).. i know this topic has been flogged.... but.... i am a fan of the mercy rule.. i think the juniors is all about development for the senior grades and with the mercy rule and players changing teams you can have players from the team that is flogging other against better quality players, be that their own team mates, in turn bettering their game for senior games, also you can give your backlines a chance up forward and in different positions and make the lesser quality teams players interested in the game and not dillusioned by the game.. anyways i dont want to start that debate up again coz its been flogged but thought i would throw my 2 cents in their
