I must say Hummocks did a top job hosting that final. Beer prices were first class. I can vouch for the $1 Lagers. Genuine 1930s prices! Lovely work Ace.

There's no question the best ovals in the League are Balaklava, Mallala and Long Plains.
All clubs should get a share of the profits from all finals matches. At least that would stop the petty whingeing. Toughen up boys!

Neck up!!

We got a new floormat for the showers!! Jeez, what more do you blokes want? When was the last time you bought yourself a brand new set of changerooms, and do you reckon we could snare one on E-Bay?

Fair Dinkum, i would concede that our changerooms are a tad dusty, but the committee are all over that trying to get some cash together to sort that, but apart from that our oval, club, parking, barbecue are as good as they get in this league.

oval. ha! balaklava, mallala, long plains easily better.

no doubt you need new changerooms. my bedroom is bigger. and i live in a tent! :)

you guys get the council to put the sand on the pitch, the council to build your little ticket shed by the gate.
how you going to organise new changerooms?....oh...hang on...i know who will do it!

BUT i am not necessarily doubting your clubs ability to hold a final, or GF.

Its a council owned facility you idiot - the FC has a lease on the building ONLY. The council decided to build the gate shed so they could accomodate the freeloading roaming vegi crew who block the entrance.

The council manages the oval, the grounds are the councils (i.e. the communities), they can do what ever they like which is almost always nothing. 8 weeks to fix the water pumps in January springs immediately to mind - gave the Oval every chance to die off. Same week I was up at Mallala - there is a massive sprinkler doing a sensational job of keeping the oval in great condition.

By the sounds of this message you work for the council .... how about putting the same effort into this facility as appears to happen further north.

Interesting - those clubs that have built new facilities these past years also seem to host ALL the grand finals .... yes fairness .... keep babbling you will probably convince yourself ...

I have a better idea - how about Mallala, Balaklava and United (if they are in the sharing round robin) put a motion to the APFL to stop the practice and share it with the other 4 clubs as well - then we will see how those clubs really think about the idea. TG4U gave the perfect answer if "facilities" are deemed unsatifactory - Roseworthy College oval is sitting idle 99% of the time.

Any fair minded person looking at the ladder at the end of the minor round could not think holding the grand final at Mallala is the right thing to do.

if the grounds are the communities, whats wrong with someone from footy doing something??

think you will find that mallala have a very loyal guy who maintains the oval out of community spirit.

Well done Mallala, flogged Hummocks. Hummocks kicked a few at the end of the match when Mallala took their foot right off the pedal to show some credibility on the scoreboard.

One question has to be asked though. What are you doing to the country footy supporter Hamley? Buy a beer $4.50, can of coke $2.50, Spirit Can $7  . Beautiful weather, run out of bottled water at half time of the B Grade  .

What a rip-off. C'mon guys its not a pub or a city night club its a country footy club FFS! Lifting prices of all drinks by $1 simply because its finals is not good enough. Its little wonder the club was empty most of the day.

Your a disgrace MC, The oval surface yesterday was as good as your getting in country football, everyone at the club deserve to be applauded for the efforts that were put in to get the oval up to finals football standards, I heard the presidant was out first thing yesterday morning with a pair of scissors cutting each longer blade of grass...... well done guys.

As for the price of things, maybe you should get out a bit more, i cant remember the last time i bought a can of softy at a footy game for a $1.50, besides were you at todays game at Lochiel, im pretty sure that prices are the same across the board, so in stead of being such a tight a@#e, maybe look into things a little more before having a go at Hamley.

P.S haven't you heard about the alco-pops tax????????

I agree. The oval surface appeared to be good and from the sidelines looked an absolute treat. The only thing I will say is when you walked across it, it wasn't quite full grass coverage but it was the best I have seen it in a long time. Maybe the new waste water treatment plant will help water it over the summer and will continue to improve over the next few years.

Maybe I am a tight A@#e, but I still think that $4.50 is a bit stiff for a cold one. Hummocks had there prices at $4 but being the tight a@#e that I am I drank the $2 Coopers Lager which later got reduced to $1. Great work Hummocks.

PS: alco-pops tax doesn't affect beer prices!

Not quite right there Crazy, United also take turns with GF's.

Not sure if we're in the loop or not. We had it in 05 but 06, 07 & 08 have been at Mallala, Balak then Mallala. Of course we would love to be in that rotation somewhere 8)

Heard from a source involved with Robertstown FC that SANFL has knocked back them leaving their league and instead is inviting other teams to join them instead.

What's your thoughts Hazbeen on leaving out Ben Catford for disciplinary reasons? Strange decision from the outside considering Bluey still got a gig after his efforts last week! Is there more to the story?

They are good prices Ace, but were probably reduced in 1st half because there were less people drinking (smaller crowd, cold weather) and coopers lager is trash anyway, they have that stuff coming out of public fountains in the city for free! If you want to be pathetic and picky ...A sausage and onion was $3 at Lochiel and only $1.50 at Hamley. But I purchased a snag or two or six at both grounds because I am not a silly, petty or a sook. Yes Hamley ran out of a few things, probably underestimated the potential crowd and awesome weather. I think both clubs did a good job. And I am sure Virginia and Mallala will do likewise!

If you lot are complaining about oval quality, get ready for next year. Robertstown oval in round one!!! I will be wearing a stack hat, knee pads, elbow pads, sand shoes and will have a 2 Litre bottle of Savlon on hand.......But I wont be complaining because I love playing in this league and want it to thrive.

As for facilities, most clubs probably have areas they can improve on, and obviously some more than others. Some problems we will just be stuck with, unless you can figure out how to physically lift an oval and move it. A few I can think of...

Mallala = Improve away rooms, or have shower drains that work, do you have steak sangas, I am not sure?
Two Wells = Shower drains that work.
Hamley = Very small change rooms, oval rough at times.
Lochiel = Oval a bit of a paddock at times
Wakefield = I can kick a goal from the centre
Virginia = The food is terrible......no just kidding, I love ribs before a game.
Longies = No car space (very picky yes, but thats what you are all being)

It is country footy, other leagues have all the same problems. BL & G, Hills etc etc.

Freeling = Trash Oval
Angaston = I seriously think they pump raw septic onto the oval!!!
Barossa = Mud Pit, Terrible Away rooms
South = Bad change rooms, No car space, pretty much a hell hole
Centrals = Rotten oval and in the middle of a bloody dog track, awesome atmosphere....NOT!
Nuri = Facilities fit for an AFL club (rich ba$#%rds)

If you dont like it go play in the city, it is really simple! We wont miss you.

What the league lacks in facilities it makes up for in Quality people. There are few leagues where you will find 3 or 4 clubs represented at a pub on a saturday night and drinking with each other having a good time (Mallala/Owen pubs on a saturday night).

My tips for the flag

Mallala = AGrade
Hamley = BGrade

As for Bluey, he seems to have problems wherever he plays.

Don't think there is any doubt about that DB or any disagreeement - but what? Lets not talk about change because thats the way its always been done - come off it!!! By everyone's reckoning then Balaklava and Long plains ovals are free in 2 weeks time. Plenty of time to organise a GF.

I bet we are not going to hear any whingeing from Mallala or Balaklava? I really feel for Mallala -in 2 weeks time they get to sleep in their own beds, drive the 0.5 kms to the ground, use their own peg, use their own showers, use their own chairs ..... maybe Buschy can organise some help to carry their bags from their cars to the changerooms - hell we don't want to inconvenience them too much.

The league needs to employ a fair system for football - it is not the APBestOvalLeague or the APBestChangeroomsLeague - its the APFootballLeague and the way it is run at the moment is not fair to at least one grand final football team.

If anyone sees this as whingeing then I feel sorry for you - its about improving the APFL. There should be 4 teams not happy with the current arrangements - that's enough to vote for change.

Very well said FGH, but one thing i did notice is you never mentioned willaston oval, in the BL and G, is that because you rate it about the same as south's oval, thats about what i think of it

Catford's incident was deemed more serious by Club Officials as it was the last training session before the first final and for one of our top players and imports to turn up as he did was universally unacceptable. I doubt any club would forgive a paid player in similar incidences, to sweep it under the carpet would of set a dangerous precedence to other more junior players.

At least Bluey showed remorse for his actions and was prepared to take whatever he got.

Jumbo are you on MAD Monday number 2? When was the last time Mallala A grade won a GF at home??? Apparently there have been three of late? The only two games Mallala have lost this year were at home! Unless your playing on Wakey that is tiny or a ground that holds more than 5000 people of which all will be supporting the home team, I dont really think there is much of an advantage for Malllala this year is there Jumbo? Everyone had thier chance to be playing on the 20th of Sept at Mallala, some will and still have the chance the others didnt earn the right. Its been the same for many many years and it has worked well.
Lets play at Roseworthy, great idea!!! Why on earth would we take our money elsewhere? Clubs that have done it well in previous years will continue to do it well. They do the simple things well. The oval is a given, parking is easy in most places, BBQ facilities??? who cares, ability to feed people and cater is the biggest thing, think a bit harder than just about your club seeing the $$$ after a GF. When another club comes forward and caters and presents thier facilities well in a minor final then they may be considered, you never know, try it.

If clubs like TW are serious about hosting a GF how about getting a plumber in to unblock the drains in the showers, so the players arent bathing in greywater up to their knees after each game, maybe even installing a spot to take a piss in the changerooms might help too. Can you imagine a club celebrating a GF win in the opposition changerooms at TW or Hamley. It would be a joke!
Apparently James Brayshaw wants an AFL GF at Arden Street!

Just relax big Jumbo jet!
Thanks for your consideration and heartfelt support though Jumbo :-({|=
Its great when you can sleep in your own bed before a game, even take a shower in your own shower and the chairs well I guess we probably should look at getting some chairs in from elsewhere. They are far more comfortable than most. Buschy need not waste his time on worrying about our bags, we actually have home pick up of our bags both before training and games. Joel Montgomerie and John Southern even get all thier washing done locally and delivered via courier to the ground so that they dont have to lug it from their house to their car before the game.

The Magpies will have a lot more to worry about than the facilities GF day, it is set to be an absolute belter with any of the three teams capable of beating each other on a given day. Uniteds belting of Balak yesterday was impressive and look to be the team to beat. I couldnt predict this weeks result, given they're both capable of some pretty classy footy.

It sure was! Apparently the first thing Neutron said after rolling 10m down the hill was "Dont tell Mummsy" (His Wife). It would have been seriously funny!

What did I tell you - didn't think I would get an unbiased response from Mallala - I don't give a rats where Mallala have won or lost its games - it is not relevant - the GF is on YOUR home ground and YOU are playing. If you consider that fair then I have seriously misjudged you. You can continue to make p1ss weak aguments about when and where you have lost, other clubs have p1ss poor drains or small changerooms but it does not change the fact the GF is played at Mallala and Mallala is playing in the main game.

No where have I said TW wants to hold a GF - no where have I sledged your facilities - no where have I suggested anything other than a fair and equitable go for EVERY APFL club at the GF windfall that currently falls to Mallala and Balaklava with the ODD token given to United.

You wouldn't remember the other games - don't reckon you would have been more than a few years old.
