Yes there is a GSFL Committee
Herman Lucas is the President

As like our own clubs, they are all volunteers and oversee the whole Competition.
Tribunal, Interleague games, Finals and allocation of finals at which ground, Clearances, Player qualification and registration, Umpires, (goal, field, boundary, Interchange stewards for finals, etc etc. All the things that we take for granted.
And just like our football committes they cop all the crap when things stuff up.

If society has a problem, whether it be obesity, racism, drink driving, talking on mobile phones when driving etc etc.. Football Clubs will have those issues, as will the League that administers those clubs.

My point
We all struggle to get good volunteers to help with our club..SO DOES THE GSFL. wE HAVE A GOOD COMPETITION PRETTY WELL RUN AT CLUB LEVEL AND ADMINISTERED PRETTY WELL BY THE LEAGUE.
A FEW PEOPLE MESS IT UP FOR EVERYONE

HERE ENDS THE SERMON

Thanks for the Reply Mr Magoo.... I was thinking that it 'had' to be run the same as a normal committee etc, etc.... and what you say is very true.

O:)

I wouldn't be too sure on the fact that they are all volounteers, i beleive quite a large sum of money is paid out to Curran and Herman. All the finals gate money has to go somewhere! Can anyone confirm the league officials get paid for doing a poor job of running the GSFL?

Re Red cards
As far as I know a red card is an automatic report and off to the
tribunal.
The tribunal then hears the evidence and determines the penalty.

Note to umpires:
If there has been a direction to you
THAT IF A PLAYER DUCKS HIS HEAD AND IS HIT HEAD HIGH, HE IS TO BE AWARDED A FREE KICK THEN YOU MUST ALL (THAT IS ALL UMPIRES)
FOLLOW THAT DIRECTION
NOT JUST SOME OF YOU SOME OF THE TIME

What a Ridiculous interpretation to award Free kicks to DUCKERS.
If that is the Rule then the simplest way to get the consistentcy back is to Revert the Rule back to the way it was. :butthead: :butthead: to the Gutless DUCKERS looking for cheep free kicks.

I don't think the umpires are soft, not in A's, but in B's a lot of them are new to the umpiring game and aren't sure themselves of the ramifications of dishing out a red card!

So for a B grade umpire to give out a red card, it would have been serious!

But yes, the red and white may get him off  :D  :D

Sounds like a bookable offence to me. Should definately get games for sticking fingers in peoples eyes. As for the B grade umpires, aren't they umpires that have been umpiring A grade footy all year.
So surely they know what they are doing
My bet is he wasn't reported cause the lazy sods can't be bothered doing the whole tribunal thing during the week, so nothing will probably come of it, like lots of other incidents during the year, that we always complain of on this forum.

Mr Magoo wrote:Good Weekend of Footy in the GSFL
Willunga turned it on Saturday
Steele, Hams, Portlock (a star)
Strath B's ...What a performance
Missed the juniors however
All played in a very good spirit

Sunday Strath dominated from the start in the A's
Too much pace and clean ball handling
The Creeks flogged Mclaren in the B's
McLaren 17's Good open forward line with clean skills
Langhornes worked hard all day
Saints slugged it out for a good win

As we all know there are some Italian Connections at Mclaren.
The Compass crowd were untidy in their Comments towards those of Italian decent.
No issues on the field.
The GSFL cannot stop ignorant people in the crowd yelling abuse at players.
THROW THE BALL UP AND PLAY ON

I definatly do not condone racism and think it is disgusting but not sure how Mclaren can complain about the crowd after the reception the bays got when they played at Mclaren in the second half of the season. The crowd comments towards the aborginal players was disgusting and embarrasing to the gsfl. On a better note was at mclaren on sat for the netball finals, was a good crowd, good atmosphere and good food.
