It wasn't a disgrace, it was just Winter.
We remember Winter don't we? that season we used to have up until a few years ago when that clear liquid falls in drops from the sky? We used to play in the mud for 4-6 weeks of the year and thought nothing of it, "its a winter sport after all" used to echo the change rooms after a match.
Would be unlucky if any oval this year has been muddy (disgraceful?) for more than 2 matches. still means 80% of the time its fine.

Winter is winter, I can handle playing in the mud, but for Onka's visitors rooms to have no hot water at all after the senior colts is a bigger problem. No hot water is far worst than playing.

Mt Lofty 14-17 d Blackwood 10-8
Woods actually led by 32 points early in second term, Devils appeared rusty and uncharacteristic mistakes, but gradually wore down Blackwood in third term, kicking 5 goals to 1. Sam Broadbridge chipped in with nice 3-goal cameo, while Gordon was also good. Roche a standout for Blackwood up forward, while Bowen worked well as sole Woods ruckman, but gradually tired against constant rotation of Temme boys and debutant Bryn Coudraye. Good hit out for Devils, who are now one win from a triple crown feat.

Agreed GD, Mt Lofty started very poorly, but as poor as their start was, Blackwood should take some credit as they were much more desperate in the middle of the ground and were right on top in their forward line. They took a four goal lead into quarter time kicking with a moderate breeze which helped, but guys like Edwards, Magarey and Sidebottom were instrumental in using that advantage with their work though the middle of the ground. When the Woods kicked the first goal of the second term after thirty seconds into the breeze you sensed an upset may have been possible. However Lofty's midfield really lifted their intensity around the contest after this point but failed to capatise on the score board throughout a dominant second term possession wise. As the game opened up their far superior pace and fitness around the ground wore down Blackwood who looked to tire in the relatively hot conditions in the second half. Lofty's five goal win equated to a ten goal turnaround which is similar to what they did to Hahndorf in the last minor round match. Lofty would be licking their lips at the prospect of a sunny saturday in a fortnight on the wide open spaces of Lobethal oval. Fortunately everyone got through unscathed for Mount Lofty, and unless Blackwood can get Gigney's dodgy hamstring right I would think the remaining three teams would be at equal odds to meet Lofty in the GF.

Wouldnt Bridgey be better off moving to Mylor Oval or if they could get rid of those idiots with the round ball Bradwood Park. Far better ovals closer to Bridgewater, Call them Bridgewater Districts or or whatever you want to call them. It makes more sense than Cornerstone which is too far away. They wouldnt lose their identity, i expect they would retain most of their players, have more chance of picking up quality recruits and maybe one day develop a good winning culture in Div 1. Yes Mylor would want some money spent on the facilities over the long term, im unaware of if they have decent showers etc but surely if they set their minds on it they would do alright eventually. Come to think of it i believe they have actually played on Mylor at some stage in the past. Can anyone confirm that?

i remeber one year after a terribly wet schutzenfest that wrecked the hahndorf oval we played the season on the dunn park oval near Mt. Barker. Never affected our identity

A move to Mylor would require a Huge amount of work e.g. building changerooms, Lights, goal posts, and the drainage of the oval might be just as bad as bridgy 4 all we know. And if the Bridewater football club cant provide suitable facilities at their current home base i just cant see them getting facilities at Mylor up to scratch :?

In the mean time training could continue at Bridgewater until Mylor was developed into a good football oval. Bridgewater oval seems to be getting smaller every year, the way things are going a club at bridgey will no longer be viable in the future, regardless of what div they are in. Better to bite the bullet now. If money is needed for drainage etc prehaps they could sell the sports and social club and relocate? And before anyone shoots me down, no im not sure who owns the building and if it could be done. Anything though would be better than playing at Bridgewater oval and if they are serious about surviving div 2 doesnt seem to be the option in my mind. Bridgewater is geographically in the centre of division 1 and a heap of players would go to another div 1 club before they travelled to kersbrook or callington to play div 2 footy.

All this huff and puff about moving nothing will eventuate and Bridgewater will just end up staying where they are. I still strongly believe going to country would be the best option. It's all the young A graders comming through who will suffer from all this.

I went in for a beer after the game at Bridgy's and there were more Birdwood snr players there than Bridgy's and we only had 7 there!!!

Bridgy's barman was embarrassed!!

Not sure why Bridgy's barman is embarrassed he is part of the problem. Last game of the year after 2 wins the club is full of people getting on it and he cracks the shits at 10.00pm and closes the bar. His reason because people werent listening to him. There was a band playing and they hadnt even finished but this turkey decides to close the bar, probably cost the club a couple $1000. There is a massive culture problem with bridgy, too many people with too much to say but dont want to do anything about it. Yeah the changerooms and the oval is crap but not entirely sure that is the main issue, I'm sure it would help with recruiting, but if players that come to the club with the intentions of helping the club out are subject to senior players that seem to have rules for themselves and not for others you soon start to drop new people to the club off pretty easily.

Bridgey's barman is actually the senior colts coach, he should be ashamed in what he did that night and costing the club precious money from the bar; money which may have well have been spent on his senior colts next year.
Apparently the club captain and quite a few of the senior players walked out of the sports club that night when the bar was shut down early and they went to the local hotel and spent plenty of money over the bar till 130am.

devs supers had a good win today, great start put us up by 4 goals early then it tightened up a bit and onkas kicked a quick 2 goals, but they were their last 2 aswell. think we won by about 5 or 6 goals in the end..

and think hahndorf won the a's, not 100% though

Hahndorf over Mt Barker by 2 goals. Heavy rain during the game reduced scoring and skills. Tight until halfway through last quarter.

Another outrageous thing I heard from Bridgewater was on the Thursday night of the last game two of the imported players went to the bridgewater pub fot tea instead of comming up to the club. That made the guys that do the thursday meals feel real good.

BALLHOG I think one of three explanations could be applied to that behaviour by those recruits-
A) These blokes are jerks who care more about getting a meal of choice and having a punt than they do their teammates.
B) They do not enjoy the company of their teammates and the atmosphere of the club and will be seeking 'employment' somewhere else next year. Or
C) A combination of the two.

Dangermouse either way it is a disgrace to come to a club recieve payment from that club then spend the money at the pub which is just accross the road. I don't know how you could possibly have the nerve to do that. How do you think the local lads would have felt when they found out about it.
