Makes a mockery of the medal system and totally devalues it, not knocking his ability as can play, but certainly others in comp are as good or better and until saafl want to take ownership of club umpire pool, install a fair system where a whole divisions umpires then umpire either the div above or below this type of blatant favouritism will continue to happen.

Season 2009 simple solution nominate 1 B Grade player to your club umpire who gets the 3 vote every game and if all other 9 clubs do the same will have a 10 club tie for the medal and really highlight the need for change and impartiality.

thanks very much mate and yeah lachie was real stiff i'm not sure but i would think 28 votes would've won most medals last night and your right the last couple of rounds did get close i didnt play in round 17 so i was hoping he would'nt poll and i think he got three to tie it i was just lucky to get 2 more votes in round 18 although a tie would've been good as getting 28 he deserves it. i ended up being the last to leave last night and was very messy i mean real messy grassroots should be interesting as i did an interview before i left that my girlfriend told me i should be ashamed of and told me i was a drunken disgrace ohwell these things happen my god i'm paying for it 2day tho. my head is killing me..........................

Pity I was looking forward to seeing Mitchell Park come up, at least it would have been another closer match for our club, oh well.

So do you think Henley will go up to Div 6 along with Paralowie?

i doubt it as henley have plenty of blokes who just enjoy the lower grades they could and would be around the mark in div 6 but i just cant see them going up and the saafl being the jellyfish that they are will not say or do anything about it!

Theres that one umpire that gives him votes no matter what. Hes a cheat and everyone knows it. Even the uni players that get a free rid know it. But hey what are you going to do....not alot.

I think this is crap, if you dont want to go up dont play finals!!!! Let others that do want to go up have the chance to, if they are so happy in the lower grade then they shouldnt play finals. Just my opinion. If this is true and Henley choose to stay down then i hope Paralowie makes total fools out of them next week and makes them realise they werent good enough for Div 6 anyway.

They should be forced to go up, everyone else from A2-A7 is when they make a Grand Final. If it's good enough for Adelaide Uni to do when they make a Div 7 GF, it's good enough for Henley.

They can use the whole 'want to play lower grades' thing all they like, but they're not jumping to A2 or A3, A6 is only one level above where they are and they're obviously capable seeing they can make a GF.

Maybe if we win Div 4 next year we might ask the league to stay down because we only wanna play 'lower grades', what a load of shit...

agree totally pag...they have to go up...cant just sit in a div and dominate it..so they might struggle in div 6..so what...its a not a god given right to play in finals every year

Also agree that if you are good enough to contest the ultimate prize that you should go up....Adelaide Uni have also won previously and exercised their right and remained in Div 7 as per the SAAFL rules but can only exercise the right to stay down once, if win following year must go up.

Have said it before that SAAFL need to run a seperate Div just for C & D Grade sides that all Div 1 and 2 clubs and maybe even Div 3 should have to participate in and fine them if fail to submit teams (fine us for everything else) and if this doesn't leave enough teams for Div 7 comp then unfortunately they should either be allocated to the closest Div 1 or 2 team in their area to be included in new Div or fold or be included in a expanded Div 6 comp.

maybe this is the reason why henley tried d7 and not c1 and c5 ......found it easy...made the g f then they have to go up to div 6....piss weak if they excercise the option to stay in d7.....in c1 would they do any good...too scared to find out
