Talk on the national game

1st week of the finals

Postby Wedgie » Sat Aug 30, 2008 7:46 pm

Anyone have a good prediction of when the Crows v Cats final will be?
I can get good tickets no probs being a Cats member ( as are the whole family, even 2 that follow the Crows) but I need to organise accomodation.
My guess is it will be a Telstra Dome game between these 2 sides which suits me to a tea as the rest of the family has never been there and its my fav ground.
Im hoping Saturday or Saturday night, but can 'swing' to either the Friday or Sunday, actually Friday would be great for me but bad for the missus.

Nah mate, members have to pay too, I might get family season tickets for the finals though.
God bless Andrew Jarman, I knew he'd eventually fix up my issue of having multiple teams of playing in the finals.
Now Ive just got to hope the Raiders get a game in Melbourne too! :D

Bugger, just found out the game will most likely be at the G, good for Geelong but the family wont be happy.

This is how I see it IF Sydney and Saints win ->

Qualifying Finals
Adelaide/Geelong Saturday Day
Bullies/Hawks Friday Night

Elimnation Finals
Sydney/Roos in Sydney on Saturday Night
Saints/Collingwood On Sunday

Saints/Collingwood will almost certainly be on Sunday as they will want to give the Saints the 7 day break, I reckon all Victorian finals will be at the MCG Cats/Crows would still get 60k

But then again I could be waaaay off!

Hopefully they move North v West to the Wednesday night as that's the importance it deserves too and will suit me.

Nah, its the TV game, all the other games will be moved though
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Does anyone here give Saints a chance of beating essendon by over 14 goals?

If they do that they will probably overtake Adelaide.

It is not beyond teh realms of possibility given how poorly Essendon are travelling ATM especially with their injuries.

Adelaide haven't got 4th spot sown up yet IMO.

I don't think either we or Port would agree to have one less day to prepare for the finals, in any case of either side making it.

Good point Wrinkles but 14 goals might just be out of reach IMO. But yeah, they'll get pretty close to I reckon. In my tips I had the Saints by 71.

Bugger the Dome more like it. The more games we get at the G the better. Why not check out another final at the Dome? In 95 I saw both Prelim Finals in Melbourne which was a darn sight more fun than what happened the following week.

I think they're a chance. Especially for what is at stake - you'd think the Saints would be gunning for that 4th spot and Essendon are down to their last men.

I don't think there is an actual figure... % isn't just decided by winning margin otherwise we would have Point Difference rather than %. St Kilda need to keep Essendon to a pretty low score AND win by a big margin.
