Just as an aside the Central cheer squad put plenty of work into the banner it prepared for the match against North which was on a Monday.
The banner read "Today's cock-a-doodle is tomorrow's chicken noodle.":lol:
It didn't work out that way but central certainly made the league leaders fight to remain undefeated after 10 rounds.

Looking back it's amazing that we were in with any chance at any stage of the year of playing finals football.

Five weeks and five losses later we were bottom with 4 wins and 11 losses and staring at our first wooden spoon since 1900.

About the same time rumours first surfaced about Jack Cahill returning to Alberton.

ha ha, actually the only reason I have the footysa from that round is because Andrew Jarman was the poster in the middle!

Its a good edition and Sturt supporters would appreciate it as has a full page interview with Peter Motley in it.

I think it is interesting to look back at what the ladders were at various stages during past seasons. With the passage of time, people just tend to remember the final positions of teams in a year, and forget for instance that Glenelg did struggle in the first half of 1985, before winning 10 of our last 11 games to win the premiership. Similar to Centrals this year actually!
