First Bob Rock and now Rick Rubin - they just wanna be The Cult! Soon James Hetfield will be singing in the Doors of the 21st Century!

Got my copy Saturday morning and my favourites would have to be 'All Nightmare Long' and 'Judas Kiss.'

I think it's a pretty solid album and well worth a purchase for any Metallica fan.

I'm loving it.
That Was Just Your Life, Cyanide and The Day That Never Comes are awesome.

Was a bit dubious about Unforgiven III but I think it rocks now.

Yeah Saturday morning purchase for me too, really happy with it especially “That was just your life” – Great song.

I was a little dubious about Unforgiven III aswell but its quite good and I especially like the solo.

Its not as thrashy as their erliest albums but nonetheless I have enjoyed it so far.

Is it just me, but I dont like the mix on the album....

The drums sound awful...reminds me a bit like "...And Justice for All" album/mix.

Be interested in hearing your thoughts people :?

Definitely warming to the album after a couple more listens. One or 2 more and I will pass the final judgement.

The problem with Metallica releasing new stuff is it always gets compared to the ol faves. If this album was released by Truth be Sold people would be raving.

Disclaimer: Truth Be Sold = great local band you should be checking out when next they play. End of plug.

Original album cover concept eh!
Ain't too bad at all, considering how cynical I was when 'St. Anger' came out after that yawnfest 'ReLoad'...
'Load' wasn't too bad however!

Thanks zipzap,

I guess I am very fussy when it comes to how an album is mixed/produced. I really have a problem with the drums on the album. I have listened to it over and over again and think they sound shocking. Guitars are not much better.

I know I will be listening to "Master of Puppets" for years and years to come but not sure about this one :?

Each to their own........

Some great riffs on this record, reminisant of MOP and Justice for all. But for me vocals let them down, JH forces them and ends everything with 'ergh'. Drums are average at best. Bass is pretty good.
And i would know we play it all the frickin time at work over the PA!!!! :?

So last night on JJJ’s “Full Metal Racket” program they brought up an issue regarding the mixing of the album. Basically the Guitar Hero version is supposedly better than the released CD due to the mixing quality.
I have no idea how guitar hero works but there seems to be a lot of backlash out there about the situation, (type death magnetic guitar hero mix problem or something similar in google)
I don’t think there has been an official statement by the band as yet but I wonder what will come of this?
Listening to the samples they played on the radio last night of a few songs and comparing, I couldn’t really tell that much difference but perhaps when the two CDs are compared there is an obvious difference…
