had a yack to the greenies lads at a lunch at prospect on sunday and they thought plympton were v good and never let greenies get ther game going. they were disappointed but had the chins up knowing there was another week up their sleeve.

plympton and greenacres in close ones this week.

they'll never the 'super soaker 5000' out at harpers this week to get that up to a reasonable standard.

I'm eagerly awaiting the zedman's official match previews, the weather has been kind so far this week to get Greenies oval into a bit better condition. How did monday go sprinter?

I agree with Sprinter, if Plympton were able to knock off a pumped up Greenies on their home deck I think that they'll get the win at Harpers Field. I'm not under-estimating GG though, Plympton have been on fire lately and maybe GG might take a bit to get going after the rest.

Mate, Plymton werent great the whole game.. It was only the second quarter(8 goals to 1) that made the difference apart from that they werent super. Greenies never really hit there straps because every time they did kick a goal or 2 the game slowed down or Plympton kicked one. Golden Grove will pump Plympton.

Greenacres v Smithfield

As we have seen last week anything can happen in finals football. Pressure of the day, pressure of expectation and teams and players who play above what they have been doing, or play below what they have been doing. So, the question is..were Plympton playing above themselves or were Greenacres playing below their best. Probably a mix of both. I had no doubt the Greenacres side would be unsettled last week and it prooved to be correct. Nearly a 1/3rd of the team had missed the previous week and in finals you must be balanced and settled with no distractions to get the maximum out of your team. Saying that, skill doesnt just dissappear overnight and Greenacres have plenty of that. DR would have been onto them all week making sure the minds were on the job and they will need to be because the panthers from Smithfield are coming with teeth bared. Smithfield are one of only 2 teams to defeat Greenacres in the minor round. Even the mighty Golden Grove couldnt beat Greenacres. Just a few weeks ago Smithfield played in a 4 goal loss to Greenacres at Hicks park but..and its a big but..the Greenacres team that day is not the same team that will take the field this week. Obvious players the panthers must contain are Forth, Hudson, Tatkovic and Bamford. Smithfield will come oozing confidence after getting over the hounds in extra time last week. They have no fear of Greenacres and want to cause an upset. Smithfield players to watch include Taylor,Fairhurst, Bond and the big ruckman will have a great battle with Wright from Greenacres. Drier conditions will make for a great game of football with plenty of grunt from Greenacres and lots of pace from Smithfield. I am of the opinion that lightning wont strike twice in the same spot. I respect what Smithfield are capable of but believe the dragons will find their old form and take the points in this knockout final. Failure to do so will lead to many calls of "chokers" and it would be a valid criticism.

Greenacres by 21-30

p.s. A saturday deluge of rain renders my tip invalid :P

Very informative there zed, I'm glad you used our usual assassins names, a few of our other players have stepped up and avoided the radar, most of who under-achieved last time against Greenies.

I'm hoping the weather holds out as last time round it appeared as though it was going to be a decent shoot-out, once the weather set in and the ground continued to get churned up, it became a slog-fest, something that Greenies appeared more accustomed to and outplayed us in the conditions.

We weren't great last week, we done just enough to win, hopefully we have got the nerves out of the system and rock up ready to go for 4 quarters.

Greenies are a good outfit and we have to be fully prepared in every aspect to get over the line, we had a good turn-out last night and hopefully Thursday will be even better.

Are you going to try and get to one of the div. 5 games or will you stick a bit closer to home?

only counted the minor round turk..

well you guys and gg have been flag favourites since the year started..you have brought in many good players from higher grades..you finished second on the ladder with only 2 losses..if you went out in straight sets on your own deck both times..well..if it looks like a duck and goes quack..its a duck :)

chokers maybe harsh but weight of expectation can do strange things to players..and this week there is no tomorrow..this is the opening smithfield maybe able to use..if they jump the dragons and get 4-5 up the greenies boys will have twitching a55es and a huge fear of failure...vice versa..if greenies do come out ready to play and get a good lead early they may run right away with it with the old confidence returning

Well the bureau of meteorology says the same thing, therefore I'm relatively confident we might sneak through with minimal rainfall.
