MrTeach wrote:In regards to senior colts leading goalkickers i have not seen the list but i would think there would be a few chances.

Chris Konke from McLaren
Ben Simmounds from Strathalbyn
Jake McMillan from Mt Compass (go Jakey)
Russell Klienig from Saints
Tom Johnson from Langhorne creek
Jake Stanfield from Willunga

I think it will be out fof the lad from McLaren Chris Konke or Jake McMillan but if Simmounds had played the whole season he would have won easily.

Can anyone give me insight into these names and what you think?

Russell would be lucky to have kicked 15 goals this season due to our lack of size he has been in the ruck and stuck down back, we dont have any big goal kickers as we dont have a big forward target our on ball players rotating through the forward line are our scoring avenue. Tom Jhonson from Creek would have kicked a few this season for sure and Jake Stanfield from Willunga would be right up with the top few, Simmo from Strath has not played a great lot of games and has been in and out the mid field when he has played.

Yes it is very good to hear and the colt he was speaking to still has next season in under 17's so he will be all the better for the run.

Forfeits are just the pits for all concerned

On the plus side
No Injuries
Ovals don't get cut up
No gear to wash
Goal umpires, team managers etc get some time off

On the other side
1.No Mail medal votes....what if either a Yank or a Mclaren Player comes second in the reserves medal and could have won it with some votes from Sat. The same with club B&F awards ( I know it is a team sport, however individual awards are part of our great game)
2.Goal kicking same as above.
3.Supporters who pay their $5.00 to watch get ripped off...especially if they have come to watch their son, friend or favorite player play in the reserves.
4.An hour and a half with nothing to do.
5.As this was the last game for the year, there may have been players donning the boots for their last game ever and that is taken away
6. Drive all the way from Yank just to turn around and go back.
Can go on for ages

NOT GOOD :(

Agree, Forfeits are NOT ideal obviously BUT they only happen once in a Blue Moon so get over it. I'm sure the Yankalilla Footy club are embarrassed by it and will do everything to avoid it happening again. I see the SAINTS 'B' Grade played with only 16 the other week against the Creeks so Credit to them for Battling it out.
Not sure of the circumstances at Yank ? (Had 12 players ?) . Could 4 or 5 of their 'A' Graders have played 2 games to make up a team? I Remember years ago the Creeks at one stage had players who were playing 2 games to make the numbers up.

Apparently some a grade players said they would play but there b grade coach did not want too,
i am over it, if it was mid season it probably wouldn't have bothered me at all its just frustrating when you have a plan in place to play an oval a certain way to prepare for willunga oval the next week, and the week before the finals you are robbed of this, like i said in a previous post pongys played with only 16 or 17 plus a couple of a graders a few weeks back, surely they could have done the same

Bass has accepted a fantastic job in Sydney but for the next few weeks will be commuting back each weekend and for games and thursday night training. I think his coaching aspirations are on hold while he chases a career in television! But great committment to see out the rest of season.

Hey Pag,

Jono has been going pretty good i think, however i reckon he has been carrying an injury. I would like to see him fully fit with another pre season under his belt.

As for McLarens a2m, this is only my assessment as an outside person not from the club. They have an extremely young list by the looks of it and have always had really good juniors which has continued this year. It seems to me they are lacking tall players i reckon with a couple of experienced taller players they could be a fair threat in years to come,.

Hey maybe A mum, herefor the beer and King Kernas can you fill me in, have McLarens re-elected their coach or is he not going on?

I've been so caught up with heaps of junior stuff lately that I really don't know the answer to that question for certain.
Hopefully the other two can answer this for you.

Hey MrTeach,

Your correct they could definately do with a couple of bigger bodies to help out the younger players.
The A grade coaching job was advertised in the paper on the weekend.

Now that finals are here lets have a stab at the team of the year.

Im not sure that a player from each team has to be included as its a best 21, not the best 21 provided all clubs are represented.

I'll start with my back 6.

HB: Glass, Hickey, O Love
B: Bailey, Bennett, Dellatore

Yeah i would not have too many objections to that back 6 BJ. Glass, Love and Bailey would be definates.

Forwards, you would be looking at Hams, Cowling, Follett, Portlock, Eagleton all those have to come into consideration.
