Thin Red Line was also a great movie.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

My favourites would be:

The Great Escape
Saving Private Ryan
Das Boot
Schindler's List (maybe not technically a war movie)
Stalag 17
Blackhawk Down
Breaker Morant (is brilliant)
Downfall
Glory
The Longest Day
Tora Tora Tora
Midway
... the submarine one with John Bon Jovi in it is good, not as good as Das Boot

The others mentioned so far are also good. Two that are a bit disappointing to me are The Battle of Britain and The Battle of the Bulge - just on the dull side for what are 2 of the most important battles of WWII.

Biggest gong has to go to Pearl Harbor
