Some of Adelaide TV's older stars:
- Lionel Williams, Margaret Glazbrook, Jaye Walton (and I'm certain at least one person here saw her coping with Sir Les Patterson that fateful morning on Touch of Elegance), Dean Davis, Ian Wilson, Ernie Sigley, Roger Cardwell

Not sure if anyone remembers what was the smallest shop in the world for a while, at Henley Beach; the passageway that was turned into originally a display for motorcycles, and then a second hand book store, next to the Ramsgate.

Buying records at Andromeda Records, when it used to be where Target is now in Pultney St (I think the rest of the building was Centrepoint and possibly Cane Corner), and then when it moved to Gawler Place.

Showbags made of paper (Sunny Boy, Fruit Box and Growers Choice come to mind), that got difficult to handle on wet Show Days.

I remember buying records at Andromeda when they were upstairs in Victoria Square  ($4 for US deletions) then they moved to Rundle Street THEN they moved to Centerpoint.

Verandah Music and Bank Street records were also good places to get rare (read: dodgy bootleg) CDs and videos.

Thats a damn shame....
Although the bloke who ran it was in business for at least 20 years so he would've done ok.

Speaking of bootlegs - remember those cheap ones that were released in the 90s????? You could buy them from Cunnos and places of that ilk.

Longer, probably going on three years now. I remember talking to the owner and he said something along the lines of the store moving into the mall - never happened though. Great store though, would skip classes and go to Verandah and listen to CD's for a bit.

Remember when Verandah Music had the two shops opposite each other in Richmond Arcade? One was purely domestically released LPs (with a handful of 45s) with the best range in Adelaide, and the other was imports only.
Also speaking of bootlegs who remembers the rows and rows of bootlegs with plain white covers and coloured paper inserts for $4 each at the Third World Bookshop? They suddenly 'disappeared' in about 1978. :-k

I used to buy records from John Davis Records in Gays Arcade - I think it was still there in 2003.
The guy [Les?] who ran the place was a classical music expert, and the woman who assisted knew practically everything about Jazz.
They also specially imported some Reprise vinyls for me at one time, and some hard to obtain "Direct to Disk" vinyl recordings.

[For the kids here, that means all analogue recording with no taping or digital processing that may alter the original instrumental tone.]
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

There was a bookshop next to Thrash Grind Grunge on Morphett Rd (?) which stocked Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, plus lots of other "alternative" text.

Thrash Grind Grunge... add that to the "whatever happened to?" list.

One of his last posts on here was an update on Dangerfield and everyone jumped on him with "who cares" posts

It lead to the Crows Board on here and may have driven him off to BigFooty ?

He seemed to have a good feel for what was going on so it's a pity he's not here anymore

You mean Factotum Books a shop run by my mate Kami who got caught up in a (surprise, surprise) blown outa all proportion story on 'Hinch' coz it sold literature about serial killers & other none too mainstream acceptable by the norm subjects at the time!
Thrash, Grind, Grunge (later known as Dominator Records) was run by the Hewson brothers Kelly a stalwart of many Adelaide bands over the years ie. 'Order of Decay', 'Glen & the Peanut Butter Men' etc., his brother Aaron former drummer for 'The Mark of Cain' as well as 'Prototype' & also Harry Butler of DNA Magazine, Dominator Reacords & 'Fear & Loathing' (amongst other bands) Fame.
The early to mid-Nineties was a golden age for Adelaide's Punk/Hardcore subculture!
