Saints playing with 5 debutants this weekend vs the Bays. Might make us a bit light on but that now will take the tally of senior colts with A grade experience to 16. Its all you can do when the season is shot!

After speaking to people around the GSFL I withdraw my comment about taking Video of the Willunga game this weekend as Joeal Garrett is a minor and I could well find my self in a spot of trouble for taking video of a minor in a public viewing arena, I also hear the Mclaren's media man and the GSFL may get asked a few questions over the Saints snr colt being tapped and then used in a offical hearing. Lets hope this one goes no further and can be put to rest as soon as possible, the matter between the two individuals is no longer a league matter, the league handed down its penalty and the player was given his suspention now it's a matter for the courts to sort out damages and so on.

I just heard in passing conversation that the parents of the saints player are speaking with lawyers to find out the legalities of tapping their some directly with out parental permission due to him being only 16 and also as to what the legal situation with a form of distributing the video to others in the form they did by taking it to a registered football league official tribunal hearing. I am not 100% sure of the full situation as I was just a bi standee in a passing conversation.

Oh okay O:)

Well I can tell you that the player was not filmed 'directly' so to speak from what I know the video is of the play and it just happens that the incident was caught in the frame as well (Behind the play).

I can also tell you that when we were discussing this on here the other day I emailed my cousin who works in a lawyers firm and she told me that it is "In no way illegal to video tape a childs sports game, no matter what age unless they are running around naked" ... so there's no problems there either. I also posted a couple of pages back what the law states.

Also...I don't know what others think but.... just my thoughts... if I was the parents of the player who was guilty of this incident I would be ashamed and embarrassed and would want him to learn from it... not try to twist it around and start trying to blame someone else because it was actually caught on tape and go looking for legal ramifications to try and get out of it.

I am the saints snr colts coach and I will say is I have spoken to the players parent and informed them of the suspension handed down by the GSFL to witch they had no argument with. Both the club and I won't accept what happened on the field and the player was given the suspension and we have never and will never question the 14 week ban as the incident is something we don't want to see in any grade at the Saints again no matter what the situation is. I know the parents have been informed that the McLaren's do have video footage of the incident and it was used in the tribunal, they are also aware that the victim has contacted police and are seeking further action. The parents of the reported striker are looking into the legalities of all the above mentioned scenarios but to what extent I am not sure.

Your last paragraph is spot on A-Mum and although his parents have not expressed their thought directly to me I am sure this is the case as they never questioned the incident or the suspention and the player has not been back to the club since.

Thankyou for telling us how it is TW.

It is really good to hear the coaches point of view.... and as you say you don't want to see anything like this at the Saints, well I hope we can stamp out these type of incidents at all games in the GSFL... get back to playing footy  .... get back to spending money in the canteen  .... get back to having a drink in the opposition clubs after the game O:)

What is the world coming to.. can't people just accept what has happened and move on. It's not good to see the police involved. Anyway enough about that. Here are my tips for tomorrow's matches.

Mt Compass over Victor by 4 goals
L/Creek over Myponga by 12 goals
Encounter Bay over Saints by 10 goals
Willunga over Strath by 2 goals (the Strath oval is on par with Myponga at the moment)
Yankalilla over McLaren by 10 goals - hopefully the Tigers take some momentum into 2009
