Having been a keen observer in both SFL/GSFL over the past decades i have a theory about hardness of the comps-Southern struggle to kick drop punts so therefore the ball is on the deck more often resulting in contest after contest.
-GSFL kicks plenty of drop punts the game keeps flowing eliminating many of those contest.Question is who has the most ball ups?surely SFL by a mile.

Be careful cuzzy the Bays coach has quit too and if not the word was out he was going to be sacked, which would have been totally unfair. A lot in the Bay club has slagged him for doing a good job. Many have ridden a great ride with Bass and enjoyed the wins, but would have had great joy in watching him fail. Supporters, if you can call them that, can be harsh.

Any truth to the rumour that Bass has resigned to take up a roll in Sydney as the host of a TV sports show????

Keep typing away LF, BJ, Cuzzy, Jelom and friends. This forum is obviously a wonderful breeding ground for aspiring media personalities

No surprises there mate as both clubs would have the smallest supporter base particularly for away games.

That's interesting. I would have thought Willunga to have a big supporter base being so strong and I know they've got juniors lining up for a game also - so people everywhere so to speak. I do know that when McLaren hosted Encounter Bay that the gate takings were way down to a 'normal' Saturday so that proves true with them having a lower supporter base.

So who would have the 'highest' supporter base then?? :-k

Very good question Mum, I would have to say Strath would have one of the largest "following" so to speak, they have alot of familys involved so they all travel to away games.

Interesting how you say they have alot of families involved.... I have always said that Strath has set themselves up to be the best 'family' club in the league. And I'm saying that from the outside looking in because I don't know first hand of course.

They seem to really look after their juniors/babies and families... seeing things like the Auskickers playing at half time of their A grade home games is really special in my opinion for the kids, parents....and the spectators love it as well.

So yes I agree, they probably have the biggest supporter base.

Agree with that aswell. Always manage to have a good following at away games. As for family club i would hope that all clubs are geared towards families and are trying their best to look after the juniors in their transition to become senior footballers, some clubs are better at it than others!!!!

I know at our club we have a swag of kids under 5 running/crawling around. With up to 15 kids directly from current players in that group and huge numbers at presentations with plenty of 14s/17s parents involved aswell.

Final round of games and with the top 5 set sides will be throwing their best at the last game before finals.
ROUND 18 AUGUST 23RD
MT COMPASS V VICTOR HARBOR - Mt Compass need form going into finals, compass coz they have to win!
LANGHORNE CK V MYPONGA/SELLICKS - If pongy go like they did last week they are every chance, creeks for me tho.
ENCOUNTER BAY V SAINTS - Bays, great win last week, saints looking to next year!
STRATHALBYN V WILLUNGA - Willunga, will be tough up at Strath, a great tune up for finals
MCLAREN V YANKALILLA - Yank, have impressed this season, hopefully build on there good season next year!

Before the murder of the Lovelock i believe SFL,GSFL,HILLS were all locked away with 12 shields each.Throughout my time at the elite level removing the lovelock from the calender has been the biggest disappointment for all concerned.Once again commonsense hasnt prevailed, the players want it, the fans want it,Micky wants it, the only people who dont want it are the people no one cares about anyway.BRING BACK THE LOVELOCK!!!!!!!

Im from Compass, Cuzzy. That is great to hear that you eat from everyones canteen but all i am saying is, it is a general feeling from the clubs and maybe you should have a word to more people from your club to follow your lead and use opposition canteens as well as stay for a drink after the game.

Totally agree Micky.

Was involved with a few with the SFL and were lucky enough to win one.

Great concept that has been lost for some reason or another. It was great to play this competition and have it lead into the Southern Districts team.

A good thing lost, hopefully it will return in the future.

From a Willunga point of view the canteen take will always be down because Willunga doesn't have a netball club following them around. This also accounts for the lack of atmosmphere at some Willunga games. Never underestimate the contribution netballers make to footy clubs.
