interesting though that a club is willing to host a home final, but knocked back without a chance to get things right.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i dont think there is any other club that has asked for a home final but has been denied the chance

I believe there are a few, namely SHOC mainly for not being sponsored by West End (someone correct me if Im wrong)

In all seriousness, Modbury would want to be doing something drastic with their oval before next week, or they may find themselves in the same boat, especially seeing as their changerooms are not up to scratch too..

Correct me if I'm wrong. we play footy in winter, it normally rains in winter if we're lucky and people bitch and whinge if a cricket square is a bit gluey and the ground is muddy. Fair go, next thing you'll want to play at the Telstra Dome with the roof shut.

A different story if it is considered dangerous but who makes that call, certainly no one with a vested interest in relocating the game without making the change worthwhile to the club whose oval is not acceptable.

Is it only dangerous if there has been no rain and is rock hard?
I saw u11s 2 weeks ago play at Flinders Pk in very boggy conditions and they loved it the parents were laughing about it and there was no questions about how dangerous it was.

It appears that the SAAFL officials are the only people who dont want to play on muddy grounds. Here is their reasoning
Home Finals and Oval Conditions This week is the first week of finals and a number of clubs have opted for a home final. The Home Finals Policy (p33 Handbook) outlines the expectationsfor home finals. In the section on grounds, the policy states that theFootball Operations Committee reserves the right to change a finals venue.The objective is to play finals on the best grounds available. This willchange from week to week depending on the weather. If there are no betterovals available, then we have no choice but to play on boggy ovals. Whencomparisons are made, it needs to be made on the basis on the conditions ofthe ovals on the day of play, not on what happened 2 or 3 weeks ago.
I cant see the issues with playing on a muddy oval. it's always a great feeling when you come off the oval, covered in mud, and sing your club song after a hard fought win

I like Kilburn Oval played in 2 winning finals there a couple of years ago against Houghton and St.Pauls

Pretty sure Fuller has been playing, he may have been playing a different role and not popping up in the goal kickers as much.

Our oval is pretty big but narrowish through the flanks.
