GSFL Movements

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

As far as I know the 14 week suspension is the second biggest in history! Aaron Irvin when playing for Mt Compass received 25 for ripping an umpires badge off of his shirt but I can think of any others that match that.
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

He was given 14 weeks, 7 weeks for each strike that connected the tribunal took into account the evidence provided and injury recived from the incident. He was given maximum penalty as their was a communication fault between the club and coach/player so no one fronted up for the tribunal.

What is going on with the Saints? No player or club official in attendance!
Talk after the game at the Bay centred on the no show of Strath players in the club after the match to have a beer. It is part of country footy to have a drink with the opposition isn't it?

Yeah TC, having a drink after the game is what Country footy is all about. But it is funny you mention it, i was talking to the girls in the canteen and they said that there are certain clubs that they know hardly spend any money at all at opposition clubs canteens. I reckon this is is crap and if it is really happening then those clubs should take a look at themselves.

As far as the suspension goes. 14weeks Wow, even saying that the boy who got hit and needs teeth replaced to him the 14weeks means nothing.

Not 100% sure as to why the communication fault occured but I think it was something to do with the president and also the offender being in and out of hospital, although the Saints are not all that fussed about the ban handed down as they dont want people around the club that are going to be involved in that type of behaviour.
Hows this, after speaking to a police man in the local Victor area he asked what was going on in the GSFL and if they even have umpires anymore as they have had a few assult charges placed on players due to issues on the football field! Is the GSFL in trouble with so much violence going on and umpires not reporting many people at all!

With the severity of the incident maybe he would have been given 14 weeks anyway, so maybe they just decided not to go

Particularly being 'A Mum' and having boys out on the field...I hope that the 14 week penalty is an example of how a stupid split second decision to thump someone can affect your football 'career' ...the AFL have stamped out this kind of thing and IMO I think that the GSFL needs to as well.

Interesting comment from the police.

Yeah the comment about the police is extremely interesting. the last thing we want is for the GSFL to get a reputation like the SFL for being a dirty league.

Because at the moment if you speak to people who have played in both, most of those people the the GSFL is head and shoulders above the SFL as far as being a league to play in.

Not having a go at SFL but I've heard that too.

I'd like to be proud of being associated with the GSFL

So here's hoping we can have some really good footy and a little less ugly stuff

O:)

There are going to be some oval changes over the finals with Myponga being moved to later on and the Bay having the qualifyng. Compass look like losing the big one if this change is consistent.

Is there a bit of bad blood between the Bays & Strath or something perhaps?

Dont quote me on this but i did hear the Bays want a 2nd semi or qually and Pongy is being put up for the prelim and mclaren vale hosts the grandy or first semi and compass gets qually could be interesting "A" grade team cant have home final,I think play the finals on the best ovals available and be done with it,get tour ovals up to scratch, but our biggest game for the year at MtCOmpass is a joke, now I know they are running shuttle buses from Victor and Willunga to relieve car parking, but will this help.  :ANAL:

You seem to have a lot of time on your hands Micky not working mate?I have in football time always gone into the opppostion club for a beer even if im not wanted, I thought this was common place between teams but times have changed, lets get back to good old country footy and respecting eachother and the way we play, have a beer and a laugh and see next time

I dont think ul find that the sfl is a dirty league its just a hell of alot harder than than what the gsfl is,and that isnt just my opinion, its also the opinion of some current gsfl players that have played in the sfl and also the opinion of alot of the umpires that officiate in both leagues. But thats ok we can deal with being called dirty as use also can deal with beig called soft and a bunch of front runners!
